We can thank Australian-born Rupert Murdoch for all of his contributions to Angertainment, Inc. and all the political toxicity he has brought to America.

There’s something else going on in Australia today that I had not heard about. (Well, I had heard about it, but never paid enough attention to it.)

They’re centrist, community‑backed independents who push for strong climate action, political integrity, gender equality, and evidence‑based economic policy. In practice, they campaign on clean energy, anti‑corruption reforms, and modernizing Australia’s economy while staying outside the major parties.

Is there any reason something like this couldn’t happen in the United States?

Yes. The “system” handicaps independent candidates.

But — green + blue = teal. How about the Teal Democrats?
