Am I Too Far Gone For God?

“It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit... and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance.” Hebrews 6:4–6

Have you ever wondered if you’re too far gone for God? Is there a point where it becomes to late to turn back? Can you sin so much that God’s grace runs out?

That’s usually when the passage above from Hebrews starts to surface. And it uses the word impossible.

Now, I’m not going to talk you out of taking that passage seriously. It’s there, it’s severe, and it means exactly what it says. But it does not mean what you think it means, and the difference isn’t a technicality. The passage everybody reads as the outer edge of God’s patience isn’t measuring distance at all.
