Tia Chucha Culminating Event

The WITS program is a free creative writing workshop for low-income students in the second through twelfth grade. It was launched by Red Hen Press in 2003. Through the WITS program, a distinguished author conducts in-class writing workshops for an hour a week over six consecutive weeks. At the end of the school year, students receive a free, professionally bound anthology of their work.

At the culminating event, we provide the community with free food and various literary activities. Participants can also read the anthologies for free on the Red Hen Press website.

The Pasadena culminating event is made possible in part by the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division. The Tia Chucha culminating event is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs.

In addition to the yearly program, Red Hen Press also offers WITS HQ: Creative Writing Summer Camp. We are ALMOST at capacity for this year’s WITS HQ, so click the button and secure a spot today.
