When Marvin Gaye sang, “Can I get a witness?” in 1963, he was not speaking in theological terms. The phrase itself is said to have originated in the African American church in the 19th century and has been used in legal and religious settings ever since.

A single testifier lacks standing—in ancient Israel and in a modern courtroom. But the testimony of two or more credible witnesses provides the basis for admissible, reliable evidence. There are exceptions to this rule, as I experienced once when serving on a jury.

Another obvious example is the eyewitness testimony of Almighty God. With His statement, “In the beginning…” He revealed how the universe was created and how He filled the earth with life. His credibility is absolute, so I do not need another witness to corroborate His account. Anyone who rejects His testimony to posit other theories is engaging in foolish speculation. Similarly, no one can know what will happen at the end of the age unless God reveals it to us (Matthew 24:3). Jesus made this point to His disciples when they expressed great eagerness to know the timing of His restoration of the kingdom to Israel (Acts 1:6).

Lamb & Lion Ministries is located just north of Dallas, Texas, a city at the center of the national debate over Islamic expansionism in America. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is home to 62 Sunni and 5 Shia mosques, for a total of 67 officially recognized Islamic houses of worship. The region features one of the largest and fastest-growing Muslim communities in the United States, second only to Houston.

Recent debate has raged over the development of the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), now rebranded as The Meadow, a 402-acre residential development with plans to build an Islamic K-12 school, another mosque, various retail shops, and Muslim-only housing units. Its stated purpose is to prioritize attracting Muslim residents and enforcing Islamic sharia law, which would violate state law. It is championed by CAIR, a designated foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organization with ties to Hamas.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has worked hard to strip CAIR of its ability to operate in Texas. Yet he has failed to slow the growth of Islamic developments, as our nation’s pluralistic laws and religious freedoms are being used to overcome the Governor’s hurdles, and construction continues.

The goals of Turkey are not shrouded in mystery. Turkish President Recep Erdoğan and officials within the nation have spent years openly calling for the invasion and annihilation of Israel as well as the “liberation” of Jerusalem from the Jews.

In a fiery speech, Erdoğan recently called for an end to the Jewish State and the “Promised Land delusion.”

“With Allah’s permission, we will never allow this,” he declared, adding that Israel’s destruction is the “duty of humanity.”

In efforts to carry out that objective, Turkey is working to position itself in Syria, moving incrementally toward the border of the Jewish State.

Israel recently watched as a Turkish delegation visited the Abu Al-Duhur airbase, which was considered one of the largest bases in Syria before it was abandoned in 2013, and sits 43 miles from the border of Turkey and less than 200 miles from Israeli communities. Israeli intelligence learned of Turkish plans to station radar and defense systems on the base in addition to the immediate deployment of Turkish troops.

Global hunger was already soaring as we entered 2026, and now it appears that we have a historic crisis on our hands. The war with Iran has significantly restricted the flow of fertilizer out of the Middle East, and even the UN is admitting that this will make global food supplies much tighter in the months ahead. Meanwhile, the war in Eastern Europe has greatly escalated and that has resulted in severely reduced wheat exports from Ukraine. On top of everything else, it is being projected that the strongest Super El Niño in recorded history will peak later this year, and as a result crazy weather patterns will continue to hammer crops all over the planet. At this stage, no rational person can deny what we are witnessing.

Experts are warning that this upcoming fall harvest season will be a real turning point.

Agriculture analyst Noel Fryer recently explained to CNBC why we are facing a “perfect storm” for global food production…

“A lot of things will come together to seriously affect crops next year,” Fryer said on Thursday.

“When you see all these things,” Jesus said. It was a warning from the Creator of all that is. We’re to be especially alert, He was saying, when certain things come into view. We—those who name Christ as Lord—should, individually, serve as watchers on the wall while we observe biblically prophetic progression.

But Jesus gave one word that, to this generation of those who “watch,” should add profound emphasis to Christ’s command. Jesus, God Himself, said God’s children should “look up and lift our heads” when we see certain things “begin” to become observable during our time on earth. Here are the words of this important command from the Lord Jesus:

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28)

In 2018, 57 Muslim candidates won elections across the country. By 2020, the number had risen to 80. In the 2022 midterms, CAIR and the Jetpac Resource Center reported a record 82 Muslim electoral victories, including 38 state legislative wins, with 146 Muslim candidates competing for local, state and federal offices. Today, four Muslims serve in Congress, all Democrats. Zohran Mamdani, an avowed democratic socialist, is mayor of New York City. And progressive Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan’s US Senate Democratic Party primary. Religious participation in government is protected by our Constitution. But the political alliances accompanying this rapid rise deserve close examination and scrutiny.

Consider the pattern. Rep. Rashida Tlaib is a Democratic Socialists of America member whom DSA proudly calls a “comrade.” Rep. Ilhan Omar is a prominent progressive whom DSA has described as an ally. Mamdani is a DSA member whose 2025 victory the organization called a monumental victory for the American socialist movement. El-Sayed, while not a DSA member, was endorsed by Bernie Sanders. These politicians differ considerably, but several occupy the intersection of Muslim political mobilization, progressive or socialist politics and aggressive criticism of Israel. CAIR Action says it helped mobilize Muslim voters behind Mamdani, while CAIR and other Muslim advocacy organizations have repeatedly supported political initiatives involving Tlaib and Omar. This deserves additional scrutiny because CAIR has a controversial history.

Federal prosecutors named CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism-financing case. CAIR was never charged, and it strongly denies connections to Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood. Yet evidence in that prosecution documented a Muslim Brotherhood-created Palestine Committee operating in America to support Hamas, and the Holy Land Foundation and five leaders were convicted of providing material support to Hamas. Against that historical backdrop, relationships among socialist politicians, Muslim political organizations and anti-Israel activist movements warrant serious examination. Association establishes neither guilt nor secret intent. It does reveal political networks, and Americans have every right to examine where those networks obtain money, political influence and ultimately governmental power.

Religious ideologies demanding political submission to religious doctrine that conflicts with the Constitution, denies equal rights to dissenters, suppresses freedom of conscience or religious liberty, or uses democratic elections to gain power and then dismantles those freedoms pose a threat to constitutional government. Americans should carefully examine any political ideology seeking to concentrate government power at the expense of individual liberty. Proverbs 14:15 says, “The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps.” Muslim Americans have the same constitutional rights as every American, including running for office. Citizens possess another indispensable right: examining beliefs, associations, financing and policies of everyone asking to govern them. We should do so with great wisdom and scrutiny.

What makes you happy? What brings you peace? Where do you find meaning, purpose, and a sense of fulfillment in your life? One of the biggest tragedies of our modern culture is that many people can’t answer these questions. They may find moments of excitement or distraction. They may have fun. But those moments are fleeting and surfacy. There’s nothing deep or lasting about them.

Philosopher Eric Hoffer wrote, “The search for happiness is one of the chief sources of unhappiness.” Someone else once said, “There are two sources of unhappiness in life. One is not getting what you want and the other is getting it.”

So, for many people today who are searching for happiness, the cold hard truth is that they will never find it. The news stories we see about celebrities seem to confirm it. For all their accomplishments, fame, and money, many of them lead miserable and empty lives. And that’s because they’re searching for happiness in the wrong way.

The psalmist revealed the key to the search when he wrote, “This is how I spend my life: obeying your commandments” (Psalm 119:56 NLT). Genuine happiness is always a byproduct of holiness. Get your life right with God and happiness will soon follow.

Several other passages in Scripture confirm this:

“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever” (Psalm 16:11 NLT).

“Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left. She will guide you down delightful paths; all her ways are satisfying. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly” (Proverbs 3:13–18 NLT).

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires” (Psalm 37:4 NLT).

“Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful” (Proverbs 16:20 NLT).

“So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?” (Ecclesiastes 2:24–25 NLT).

Unfortunately, unbelievers will never know true happiness. Instead, they will pursue the devil’s cheap counterfeits, facsimiles that seem to offer what they desire. They won’t recognize until it’s too late that the counterfeits are shallow, because they possess no deep well from which to draw. The world’s concept of happiness is dependent on good things happening. The Christian concept of happiness depends on a good God.

Choose God’s way.
