With the November midterm elections less than three months away, let’s take a broad look at where we are as a nation under President Trump. Amid all the mainstream media’s left-wing bias and doom and gloom, it can be easy to forget just how far we have come over the past 19 months.

For starters, America’s southern border is more secure now than at any time in our history. We saw a literal invasion at the border during the Biden years when at least 15 million people from all over the world swarmed into our country illegally. That invasion ended from practically the moment President Trump took office in January 2025.

In Islam, there is no separation between mosque and state. The goal is to use the state to make everyone submit to Islam. If you want to see what this looks like, just check out almost any country in the Middle East that has a Muslim majority. They don’t believe in freedom of speech or freedom of religion. Do you want to know how many churches there are in Saudi Arabia? The answer is zero, because churches are banned in Saudi Arabia. Now this same ideology is spreading in America, and that should deeply alarm all of us.

Today, Islam is the fastest growing religion in America.

It used to be witchcraft, but now Islam has taken the top spot.

There are now more than 2,700 mosques in the United States.

Two very different events unfolded in Michigan within a matter of days--and together they revealed something important about America’s changing religious and political landscape.

On August 2, tens of thousands of Shiite Muslims filled the streets of Dearborn for the annual Arbaeen procession, commemorating the death of Hussein ibn Ali, a central figure in Shiite Islam. Widely circulated estimates placed attendance near 45,000, although a definitive official count has not been released.

The religious procession that has grown substantially over several years.

Two days later, Abdul El-Sayed narrowly won Michigan’s Democratic nomination for the United States Senate. He now faces Republican Mike Rogers in November. Should El-Sayed win, he would become the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate.

The two events were separate, but the larger picture should not be ignored.

The Spirit of Lawlessness Marks End Times

The end times, Scripture tells us, will be marked by a rising spirit of lawlessness. Matthew 24:12 warns: “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” Paul echoes this in 2 Thessalonians 2, describing a coming “man of lawlessness,” and in 2 Timothy 3, where he outlines a society unmoored from restraint, humility, or truth. In a word, lawless.

Today, we see that lawlessness — not only among convicted criminals but among public officials. One can say corruption is as old as the hills, and it is, but a) America was supposed to be different, “exceptional,” some say, and b) never has corruption here been so blatant, and so bold. The full health consequences of the COVID vaccines may never be known because the manufacturers purposely contaminated the control groups designed to help determine future impacts. Pfizer and Moderna originally divided trial participants between vaccinated and placebo groups, creating a scientific comparison that could have followed health outcomes for years. But after emergency authorization, many placebo participants received the vaccine. This act effectively dismantled much of the long-term randomized control group. Thus there can be no long-term health outcomes comparison between vaccinated and unvaccinated trial participants. You cant “follow the science,” when the “science” is compromised.

There were other warning signs. In 2021, The British Medical Journal reported that Brook Jackson, a regional director at Ventavia, a company conducting portions of Pfizer’s vaccine trial, raised concerns about data integrity, participant unblinding, inadequately trained vaccinators, protocol deviations and slow follow-up of adverse events. She reported those concerns to the FDA and was fired by Ventavia that same day. The BMJ reported that the FDA did not inspect Ventavia’s trial sites following her complaint. Meanwhile, post-authorization surveillance identified myocarditis and pericarditis recognized risks associated with mRNA vaccination. The CDC now acknowledges such evidence. This demonstrates why long-term independent scrutiny, open scientific debate and an intact placebo control group were so important.

Then there is the issue of transparency. Scientists and medical professionals sued the FDA seeking records concerning its review of Pfizer’s vaccine. The FDA initially proposed releasing records at a pace that could have taken decades to complete. Courts ultimately required accelerated disclosure, resulting in more than one million pages being produced, and a federal judge subsequently ordered additional records released. Think about the contradiction. Government officials possessed enough confidence in these products to support requirements affecting employment, education, military service and everyday life, yet independent researchers had to fight through federal court for access to them. Add the loss of the original placebo comparison, whistleblower allegations and adverse effects discovered through post-market surveillance.

Without an intact randomized placebo group followed for years, certain long-term comparisons are difficult. Millions of people subsequently reported medical conditions occurring after vaccination. Determining causation requires precisely the careful comparison, long-term observation and open investigation that Americans deserved. Instead, scientific disagreement was often branded misinformation while government, pharmaceutical companies and much of the media promoted policies affecting millions of lives for years to come. Accountability requires evidence, and evidence requires preserving the means to discover it. Once those controls disappear, some answers may disappear with them. Proverbs 18:17 says, “The first one to plead his cause seems right, Until his neighbor comes and examines him.” Now we can’t even effectively examine them.

Love is not always a pretty or pleasant thing, especially in its earliest form. No matter how long you’ve been married, you probably still remember the first stirrings of love and passion that you felt for your spouse-to-be. You remember the feelings of butterflies in your stomach that sometimes felt like fighter jets. You remember the loss of appetite. You remember the nervousness and the overwhelming desire to make the best impression possible.

For better or worse, those feelings don’t last—at least, not in the intensity of their original form. Passion’s fire cools to smoldering embers that can still be ignited, but they don’t burn as intensely or as continuously as they once did.

If given the chance, the wild, unpredictable stirrings of first love can settle into something more substantial, more profound, and more permanent. The problem is that many people don’t understand that. They allow their feelings to dictate their actions. They convince themselves that when the emotional excitement isn’t there on a daily basis, they’ve fallen out of love, and the relationship isn’t working out. “We have irreconcilable differences,” they conclude, “so let’s just end things now.” Then they move on to another relationship because they don’t have a clue as to what real love is.

The same thing can happen in our relationship with the Lord. The excitement of first coming to faith—of having our sins forgiven, of being aware of God’s boundless love and mercy, of knowing where we will go when we die—can be overwhelming, in the best possible sense. The feelings can be intense. Over time, however, those feelings subside. And when they do, we may start to question our relationship with the Lord.

Instead of drifting apart from Him, we need to double down on our commitment. We need to deepen our relationship with God instead of being guided by our feelings. We need to set a workable pace for our walk with the Lord, to be content to grow gradually every day instead of expecting mountaintop experience after mountaintop experience.

The psalmist wrote, “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10 NLT). Loyalty is the key—being true to the Lord regardless of your feelings.

Certainly, there will be times of revival when the embers of your love for God are reignited, and the passion burns intensely again. And we should embrace those moments for the gifts they are. But we must never lose sight of the fact that ours is more than just a journey of feeling; it’s also a journey of faith. So, we must continue to deepen our love for God through daily prayer, Bible study, and other habits that help us draw near to Him. We must remember that we are in it for the long haul. We are running a marathon, not a sprint. And we want to finish the race well.
