SUKZESSION - Jonas Ruhs

As part of the exhibition Succession, Jonas Ruhs shows four large-format black-and-white photographs.

The two pairs of images, which are complementary in themselves, deal with the interrelationship between man and nature. The compilation of the images examines the appropriation of nature by humans and the resulting voids and traces. Empty spaces are created not only physically, but also metaphorically - in the spaces in which the naturalness is lost and a new, human-shaped order is created.

By consciously renouncing colour, the focus is on the structures, shapes and contrasts that shape the relationship between man and nature.

Jonas Ruhs works as a photographer and filmmaker in the areas of portrait, reportage and corporate. In his photography, people and the spaces they occupy are always in the foreground.

In his reports, it is essential for Jonas to create an honest and lifelike picture that visually picks up and invites the viewer to have new experiences.

In his studio work, on the other hand, he creates abstract spaces and elements with light and colors that surprise and are new to the viewer.

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung Sukzession zeigt Jonas Ruhs vier großformatige schwarzweiß  Fotografien.

Die zwei, in sich komplementären Bildpaaren beschäftigen sich mit der Wechselbeziehung zwischen Mensch und Natur. Die Zusammenstellung der Bilder untersucht die Aneignung der Natur durch den Menschen und die dadurch entstehenden Leerstellen und Spuren. Leerstellen entstehen nicht nur physisch, sondern auch metaphorisch – in den Zwischenräumen, in denen die Natürlichkeit verloren geht und eine neue, vom Menschen geprägte Ordnung entsteht.

Durch den bewussten Verzicht auf Farbe wird der Fokus auf die Strukturen, Formen und Kontraste gelenkt, die die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Natur prägen.

Jonas Ruhs arbeitet als Fotograf und Filmer in den Bereichen Portrait, Reportage und Corporate. In seiner Fotografie stehen stets Menschen und die von ihnen eingenommen Räume im Vordergrund.

Bei seinen Reportagen ist es für Jonas essenziell ein ehrliches und lebensnahes Bild zu erstellen, das visuell abholt und und die Betrachter:in einlädt neue Erfahrungen zu machen.

In seinen Studioarbeiten hingegen schafft er mit Licht und Farben, abstrakte Räumen und Elemente, die überraschen und für die Betrachter:innen neu sind.
