Reggie Miller
I am writing this as the Knicks prepare for game 5, the first time they’ve been in a position to possibly seize a title since I was 8 (when they absolutely didn’t). I have been much more of a baseball fan than a basketball fan as a teen and an adult because of how utterly irrelevant the Knicks have been, but in my heart of hearts, the Knicks were the first team I loved.
I was at the famous game where Reggie Miller scored 8 points in 18 seconds. I was 8 years old and on my way to a classmate’s birthday party at the Liberty Science Center, which is deep NYC lore if you know what I’m talking about.
By the time you read this, you will know if they’ve already clinched. You won’t necessarily know if they’ll win the title (as they could easily win game 6), but I’ve honestly been afraid to let myself get invested fully because of how hard I took it every time they’d lose in the 90s.
Ultimately, I hope I’m about to see something I’ve never seen before. And if you read this, and I didn’t get to see that, so be it. On to game 6.
Money pleeeeeease
Subscribe below! And thanks for reading either way. Hope it’s been worth your time. You’re already subscribed to the free tier if you can read this, so hopefully you consider - and by “consider” I mean “decide to” - upgrade if you can.
