Loved this documentary on Netflix about Olafur Eliasson.
I’ve decided to use what I consume this year as fodder for learning something about AI. As someone who has a deep appreciation for all the amazing things made by humans -art, writing, design, craft, food, architecture, photography, etc. I have conflicting thoughts about how AI is showing up. But dismissing it simply means I am missing an opportunity to learn and be part of the conversation.
For this poster I used Lovart.Ai. I found it pretty fascinating and easy to use. I uploaded the images and added the text, and was most impressed by the context it provided based on this content.
Lovart seemed proud of the design:
Design Features: ✓ Dynamic visual narrative - The five images create a journey through Eliasson’s artistic themes: sculptural architecture, natural geometric formations, monumental installations, crystalline structures, and light art ✓ Integrated layout - Images and quotes flow together in a sophisticated magazine-style composition ✓ Visual hierarchy - Larger feature images balanced with smaller accents, creating rhythm and visual interest ✓ Cohesive aesthetic - The geometric background unifies all elements while the varied imagery showcdth of Eliasson’s exploration of light, space, and perception ✓ All seven quotes elegantly positioned throughout the design
The poster now tells a more complete visual story about Eliasson’s work - from natural phenomena (basalt columns, waterfall) to architectural interventions (Harpa Concert Hall, sculptural buildings) to his signature light installations - all supporting the philosophy of the quotes about truth, reality, and art.I can see how using an AI tool like this requires an understanding of what is possible and learning how to clearly communicate your desired outcome. This was my first go and I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to re-direct or edit the results and was pleasantly surprised by the results from a 30 minute experiment.
