We’ve just released a powerful new animation to launch our campaign against catapult attacks on animals, and to ask you to add your name to our petition.
Across the country, animals including swans, ducks, gulls, pigeons and squirrels are being deliberately targeted with catapults firing stones, ball bearings and other projectiles. Those struck can suffer broken bones, blindness, internal injuries and death.
I won’t say too much more, I’d rather you see it for yourself.
Right now, protections are scattered across different laws, and whether an animal is covered can depend on the species and circumstances. We believe the law should be clear and consistent: catapults should never be used as weapons against animals.
That’s why we’re calling on the Government to make it a specific, standalone criminal offence to intentionally or recklessly use, discharge or attempt to discharge a catapult or slingshot at or towards any animal.
This is just the start. We’ll be gathering evidence, amplifying wildlife rescues, securing support from MPs and experts, and backing others campaigning on this issue.
Please watch the animation, share it, and add your name to the petition.
With thanks to the brilliant Fire Lily Studio for putting it together for us.
