Leo Season Will Give You Three Days Before It Detonates

Leo season is supposed to be the easy one. The Sun is entering its domicile, where it is strong, effortlessly visible, and allowed to want what it wants.

And this one does start on a lighter note.

Mercury finally stations direct late on July 23. For three weeks it has been retrograde, and you may have felt that as the misread email, the plan that fell apart at the last minute, or a general sense that nothing was moving the way it should. Whatever would not resolve in early July becomes easier to untangle.

You get three days of relief before Saturn changes the terms.

On July 26, Saturn stations retrograde at fourteen degrees of Aries, where it will remain until December. Saturn is the planet of consequence and of the structures that either hold your weight or fail beneath it. When it reverses, it returns to ground it has already crossed and inspects what you put there. Everything built this year on momentum, or on the belief that speed was the same thing as strength, is now open for review.

On July 27, the Sun reaches four degrees of Leo and turns to face Pluto across the whole width of the sky.

Leo is the sign of the single person, the individual, someone unique and singular. Pluto sits in Aquarius, the sign of the crowd, the collective, or in some cases the number you become when the system processes you. Since 2024, Pluto has been grinding down the distance between the person and the machine, mostly in favor of the machine. On the 27th our own vitality, the Sun, stands directly opposite that force and cannot look away from it.

That same afternoon, the Sun trines Neptune in Aries, showing a door standing open somewhere slightly to the left of the wall you are staring at. You will see the wall. Seeing the door will take more of your focus and attention.

Around that same time, the lunar nodes finish moving onto a new axis.

Two nights later, the sky does the thing it has been building toward this whole lunar month.

At six degrees of Leo, the Sun meets Jupiter in one of the most generous conjunctions of the year. Something in you wants more. More visibility. More joy. More of your own life. It stops pretending that desire isn’t there.

At that exact degree across the sky, the Full Moon rises at six degrees of Aquarius, almost exactly conjunct Pluto.

On one side, the Sun and Jupiter in Leo ask who you could become if you stopped apologizing for wanting more.

On the other, the Moon and Pluto in Aquarius reveal every rule and expectation that taught you to stay smaller and more acceptable.

This Full Moon doesn’t simply show you what you want. It shows you why you have been afraid to admit you want it. It reveals how much of the obstacle is real, and how much is a script you inherited about what someone like you is allowed to have.

Hold onto that distinction, because the rest of the season runs on it.

A New Moon is a beginning you can abandon. You set the intention, you do nothing, it dissolves, and another comes in a month with no memory of the first. A solar eclipse is the same mechanism with the exit sealed. What it moves does not move back without a fight.

On August 12, a total solar eclipse falls at twenty degrees of Leo. The North Node will have recently entered Aquarius, placing the South Node in Leo. In astrological tradition, the North Node is associated with increase and forward movement, while the South Node tends toward release, depletion, and the ending of an old form.

That makes this a subtractive eclipse. It does not have to take something literal from you. Still, it is likely to expose what has become unsustainable in the Leo part of your chart: a role, attachment, ambition, identity, or way of seeking recognition that has reached the end of its usefulness.

This is also the first eclipse in an eighteen-month chapter centred on the same argument between the individual and the collective, running into early 2028.

The first half of this season builds an appetite. Jupiter in Leo, the Sun at full strength in its own sign, the Full Moon pulling desire up where you have to look at it. Then an eclipse arrives in the same sign and subtracts.

Those two things are not in conflict, and I want you to understand why.

Leo is the sign of the person who wants to be seen. Underneath that, in most lives, sit two things that have grown together until they are hard to tell apart. There is what you actually want. And there is the version of yourself you constructed in order to be given it. The angle you learned to present. The likable edit, if you will. The part of you molded by the need for approval.

The upcoming eclipse in Leo goes after the second one.

It does not remove the wanting. Jupiter spent all of July enlarging that, and Jupiter cannot be undone by the Moon crossing the Sun. What the eclipse removes is the apparatus built around the wanting, which by now is probably exhausting you anyway.

Jupiter in Leo says want it, and want it larger than you have let yourself. Pluto in Aquarius asks whether the wanting is yours at all, or whether it was installed in you by something that profits when you want precisely that, in precisely that shape, at precisely that cost.

Not whether you can have the thing. Who taught you to want it.

The eclipse answers by removing the part that was taught.

On August 11, the day before the eclipse, Mars leaves Gemini and enters Cancer.

Mars is exalted in Capricorn, so Cancer, the sign directly opposite, is its fall. Fall is the weakest condition a planet can be in. Mars in Cancer moves sideways, waits too long, then goes off at the wrong moment about the wrong thing. Effort turns inward and becomes brooding.

Saturn has been in fall since it entered Aries, and it stations retrograde there on July 26.

So from August 11, both of the traditional malefics, the two planets that make life difficult, are in the weakest condition available to them, at the same time.

This does not mean nothing can hurt you. A fallen malefic still does damage. What it means is that the damage is unproductive. Saturn in fall hands you the limit without the mastery that usually comes with it. Mars in fall hands you the frustration without the courage. Neither is building anything solid.

Which is a reason to make no forceful moves in the days around the twelfth. The impulse to push will be there, and it will be Mars in Cancer, acting at its least effective. The subtraction is going to happen. Trying to force the shape of it is the one thing guaranteed not to work.

There are two moments between the Full Moon and the eclipse when you can do something with what has surfaced.

On August 6, the Sun trines Saturn. It is the least dramatic transit in this sequence and perhaps the most useful. Whatever becomes impossible to ignore on July 29 needs a structure, even a small one. Choose one concrete act that proves the desire is real, and do it.

Then, in the hours before the eclipse on August 12, Mercury retraces the Sun’s path from late July, opposing Pluto and trining Neptune. Something you felt before you understood it may finally become easier to put your finger on.

You do not need to announce it. You also do not need to force a decision under an eclipse. Write down what you want when no one is watching. Then write down the version of yourself you built to earn permission for having that desire at all.

Those are not necessarily the same thing.

The eclipse is not here to empty you of desire. What may disappear is the role wrapped around it, the way you learned to ask so that no one could reject you for asking.

You cannot decide exactly what an eclipse removes. You can stop defending what has already become exhausting to maintain.

By the time the light returns, you may still want the same thing. You may simply no longer be willing to become someone else to receive it.
