Proskii · Tastes Like a Cheat Meal

Hello Broskiis!

Welcome to the thirty-ninth edition of Tastes Like a Cheat Meal. You can read the others here: https://newsletter.proskii.in/ & https://proskii.substack.com.

If you’re new here, this is Proskii’s weekly newsletter. Both Rohit and I (Yash) hate long emails, so we keep these short and promise not to spam your loving soul.

SACH MAI!! AMRITSARI CHOLE KULCHO KI KASAM.

You know the kind.

Fancy venue. Bright lights. A big stage.

Music so loud that nobody can actually have a conversation.

Everyone holding a camera.
Everyone pretending not to notice the camera.

Nothing wrong with it.

It’s just... We never felt like that’s how we wanted to start Proskii.

When we were planning our launch, one thought kept coming back.

Hum bas aashirvad lena chahte the. That’s it.

No grand speeches.
No celebrity chief guest.
No ribbon cutting.

Just blessings from people who have lived far more life than we have.

So instead of booking an event venue...

We booked a visit to an old age home in Mumbai.

We spent the afternoon talking to the grandparents.

Listening to their stories.
Laughing with them.
Serving them bowls of Proskii.

And honestly...

They were much more curious than we expected.

One question came up again and again.
“Beta, agar isme sugar nahi hai... toh meetha kaise hai?”

Fair question. 😭

When we explained that Proskii has no added sugar and was made keeping people with diabetes and healthier choices in mind...

Their expressions changed.

For many of them, it wasn’t just another cereal. It was something they could finally enjoy without overthinking every spoonful.

That moment stayed with us.

Before leaving, we also donated cereal and milk for everyone to enjoy later.

It wasn’t a huge gesture. But it felt like the right one.

Because if we were asking for their blessings...

The least we could do was make sure they had breakfast for the next few days too.

Ours ended with blessings.

As we were leaving, almost everyone wished us luck.

Some smiled.
Some hugged us.
Some simply raised their hands and said, “Khush raho. Bahut aage jao.”

It’s difficult to explain what that feels like. But if you’ve ever received genuine blessings from your grandparents...

You probably already know.

Before getting into the car, Rohit and I looked at each other and said, “Every time we launch something new... We’ll come back here first.”

Not because it’s good marketing.
Not because we’ll make a reel out of it.

But because it’s a reminder.

A reminder of why we started.
A reminder to stay grounded.
A reminder that no matter how much Proskii grows...

Respect always comes before revenue.

After we wrapped up our visit to the old age home, the three of us: me, Rohit and Harmony (our designer), went out for dinner.

Nothing fancy. Just good food and a chance to finally sit down after an emotional day.

Funny thing is... Even over dinner, we couldn’t stop talking about Proskii. 😭

Every conversation somehow came back to...
“What could we have done better today?”
“What should we improve next?”
“Imagine where we’ll be in five years.”

Looking back, it feels quite special.

We started the day asking for blessings, and ended it dreaming about everything we want to build.

Here’s a little picture from that dinner. ❤️

After the Blessings, Came Butter Chicken.

Thank you for reading till the end. You’re a sweetu ❤️
