I’ve been building online for a long time, and I’ve watched plenty of internet gurus celebrate their first $100,000 month.
I never had much of an inclination to join them.
Trust me, we’ve done well over the past few years. But I have never measured success solely by how much juice we can squeeze into a 30-day window. I measure my life by how much control I have over my time, how much time I spend with my family, and whether I have FUN and enjoy the business I’ve built.
I’m not one of these hustle bros who thinks you need to destroy your health, ignore your children, and work 18 hours a day so you can post a Stripe screenshot on X.
That life BORES ME.
But after going running the numbers in July. I realized something:
We had cleared our first $100,000 sales month.
And the strange thing is that we weren’t even trying to force it.
I didn’t sit down at the beginning of July and declare that we needed to have a six-figure month. I didn’t put some ridiculous pressure on myself or my team. I didn’t manufacture an emergency launch or build some high-pressure funnel.
IT JUST HAPPENED.
But it happened because people buying love what we do, believe in the work, and want to continue working with us.
And all of this is happening at the same time I hear people talk about an “online-business recession.” THAT IS NONSENSE.
And I sit back and wonder what on Earth these people are doing, because our business is currently rocketing into outer space.
This is not going to be some Alex Hormozi-style generic business advice where I tell you to increase your prices, make more calls, and provide “more” value.
What I want to do is share the 5 biz principles that allowed us to have our best sales month ever while so many other online businesses appear to be struggling.
Then, on Saturday (for PAID subs) I am releasing a special Part Two for paid subscribers. I’ll take you deeper inside the business, explain where we are seeing the biggest opportunities online, and show you how you can begin applying them to your own work.

Now let’s talk about the principles that got us here…
I think some people are uncomfortable with this idea, but information is everywhere now. Your audience needs to feel like they know you.
QUESTION TO READER:
Does your audience know your life? Your values? Your origin story?
If the answer is NO you are failing…
Your audience can open ChatGPT and receive 100 ideas, 50 frameworks, and a complete 30-day plan in a matter of seconds.
Information is no longer enough.
Your audience needs to feel like it KNOWS you.
I can tell the strength of an online personal brand by how well its audience understands the person's story.
Before someone purchases your course, joins your community, attends one of your events, or hires your company, that person is making a decision about you.
Do I trust this person?
Does this person understand me?
Will this person deliver?
Will this person still care once the payment clears?
A big portion of our growth came from relationships we built over the past few months and the past year. I’ve been invited to attend live events, and to keynote a few of them, and we’ve met some invaluable contacts. Our buyers also tend to be people who have been purchasing from us for years.
All of that comes from deepening relationships that already exist.
This one has always blown my mind about how most people build online. They treat their customers like a transaction.
I recently attended an online workshop where the “guru” teaching it was berating the audience in attendance, running high pressure on them to buy the spot he was selling.
He created this aggressive, high-pressure environment and attempted to shame his own audience into buying.
What a f*cking idiot. Pardon the language.
If you have to create a high pressure environment to sell your stuff, you probably don't understand sales, and your stuff sucks.
Whenever I'm running an event, whenever I'm doing anything, it feels like a party. People are welcomed in. People are loved. People get fired up. They immediately feel like they joined something bigger than a collection of videos and PDFs.
Here’s a free tip for you internet gurus: The customer should feel more excited after purchasing than they did before purchasing.
And that brings me directly to the next lesson…
I’ve been in business a long time, so I’ve watched a lot of gurus come and go. The ones who failed all had one thing in common:
They sold someone a product and had no plan for retention.
Your online goal should be to build lifelong customers.
And if you want that, you need to:
Fulfill what you promised (and more)
Provide service
Express gratitude
Remain in contact after the transaction
Our growth this year has been heavily driven by existing customers, referrals, renewals, expanded relationships, and people wanting to work with us at a deeper level.
But that only happens when people believe the experience after the sale justified the promise before it.
Always give more than you get.
IMPORTANT: I can always who has a weak online business if they're constantly looking for leads. YOU BIZ SHOULD HAVE BUILD IN LEAD GEN.
If not you were doing something wrong…
A few years ago I believed the only way to grow was to sell more digital products to more people. That belief put a ceiling on my business.
Over the past year we expanded our offers and evolved as a company. We now run live events. We coach CEOs and businesses. We run social media teams and social media management for companies. We take on large collaborative projects.
None of that would have happened had I insisted that we remain the same kind of business we were three years ago.
You cannot build a large business while protecting a small idea of what your business is supposed to be. Sometimes your next level requires expanding your mind and developing a better sales strategy.
Other times it requires expanding your understanding of what you are even capable of selling.
Expand your mind. Push yourself.
I see the same mistake at nearly every entrepreneurial event I attend.
Someone spends six months creating a course or developing an offer before building an audience or having a meaningful conversation with a potential customer.
Then the person emerges from the basement with a fully developed product and desperately tries to figure out whether anyone wants it.
The mistake is that they begin with the product.
You should begin with the PERSON!
One of the benefits of having an audience is being able to talk to them and understand what their problems are. Your job is to solve those problems. So if you’re trying to build an offer, ask this about your intended audience:
What is this person trying to accomplish?
What is preventing them from reaching it?
What kind of support do they need?
What would make this a clear yes for them?
I always tell people they should be creating their offers with their audience, not at them. This one mental framework can make you a multimillionaire. Everything you do begins with understanding.
FAST INTERNET MONEY IS DYING
Our first $100K month wasn’t produced by a viral post or some unbelievable funnel. It came from years of building trust, serving customers, expanding relationships, and creating better experiences for the people already around us.
I’ll tell you straight up.
The fast money era of the internet is DYING because the internet is evolving.
Generic AI slop threads are losing value fast. Businesses built on shallow attention are WILL struggle. But if you build a business on trust, relationships, and genuine human connection, you have an enormous opportunity in front of you.
That is where the future of the internet lies.
On Saturday, I’m publishing Part Two for paid subscribers.
I’m going to take you deeper inside the business and explain where we are seeing the greatest opportunities right now, why retention has become more valuable than constantly chasing new customers, why live events are crushing it, and how deeper client relationships are changing the way we operate.
I’ll also explain which parts of the business I believe are growing, which older online business models are beginning to struggle, and how you can apply these same opportunities inside your own business.
Today is about the principles that helped us cross six figures in sales.
Saturday is about where the money is moving, and how you can position yourself to capture more of it.
It’s $8 a month, or $80 a year, or 22 cents a day.

P.S. In two weeks, I’m raising the price of paid subscriptions. Current subscribers will lock in the lower rate for as long as they remain subscribed. We are building a massive library of practical business information and publishing a major paid article every week. At the current price this is one of the best deals in the game.
