Joseph “Joe” Lucien Trotter, Jr. passed away from cancer July 26, 2026 at home surrounded by family. He was 87 years old. Joe was born in Santa Anna, Texas July 24, 1939 to Mildred Fern (McSwane) Trotter and Joseph Lucien Trotter, Sr. He was raised on a ranch in Toyah, Texas and later moved to Aztec, New Mexico, where he graduated high school in 1957.

It’s Rodeo week!

The annual Lamesa Rodeo will return Thursday through Saturday, with three days of rodeo competitions, family activities, live music, and community events. Highlights include nightly Mutton Bustin', the Calf Scramble, the crowning of the 2026 Lamesa Rodeo Queen, and weekend dances featuring Texas Rain and Rode Morrow. Mutton Bustin' will be held nightly at 7 p.m.
