Ariel Zeleznikow-Johnston · Preserving Hope

Sparks Brain Preservation, a preservation services provider and research organization, is hosting a two-day gathering of researchers, clinicians, and thinkers working on the scientific foundations of brain preservation, hosted at their facility in Salem, Oregon, on the weekend of September 19-20.

I think it will be both fascinating and fun - there are lots of great speakers working on the cutting edge of brain preservation science and services, including:

  • Alexander German (Hiber, recently published a paper on the first recovery of electrical activity from intact whole brains after vitrification)

  • Andrew McKenzie (host, brain preservation scientist at Sparks)

  • Anton Arkhipov (vonnectomics researcher at the Allen Institute)

  • Ariel Zeleznikow-Johnston (yours truly!)

  • Borys Wrobel (brain preservation scientist at Nectome)

  • Carrie Radomski (advocate for radical life extension)

  • Emil Kendziorra (CEO of Tomorrow Biostasis)

  • John Smart (futurist, board member of the Brain Preservation Foundation)

  • Jordan Sparks (host, founder of Sparks Brain Preservation)

  • Keith Wiley (engineer at the Allen Institute, philosopher of mind)

  • Ken Hayworth (electron microscopy & connectomics expert, president of the Brain Preservation Foundation)

  • Mati Roy (advocate for radical life extension)

  • Max More (former CEO of Alcor, advocate for radical life extension)

  • Nikki Olson (director of technical operations at Alcor)

  • Nuno Martins (advocate for radical life extension)

  • Randal Koene (neuroscientist, president of the Carboncopies Foundation)

  • Suzan Dziennis (scientist at Advanced Neural Biosciences)

  • Todd Huffman (entrepreneur, brain preservation advocate)

$20 fee to attend, free if you’re a member of Sparks. See here for more details.

Come say hello during one of the coffee breaks if you attend!
