Love lives at Dreamweaver Farms—in muddy paw prints, wagging tails, kind eyes, and the steady hands of those who pour their hearts into caring for our animals. Whether you’re drawn to the dogs who fill our days with joy or the amazing people who care for them, we are deeply grateful to have you in our Dreamweaver family.
This farm is built on love, patience, and second chances, and there is always room for you here.
ADDISONS
Fritz has come such a long way since he first arrived at CPR as part of a pack of feral dogs. He and his packmates were initially placed together in an area of cottages, where they could feel safe while they adjusted to their new surroundings. We consider Fritz a true success story — although, like so many of our dogs, his journey is still a work in progress.
When Fritz first arrived, he wanted nothing to do with humans or human touch. He kept his distance and was understandably unsure of the people around him. But after months of patient, dedicated love and attention — always allowing Fritz to decide when and how an interaction would happen — this special boy has made remarkable progress.
Today, Fritz has favorite caregivers he trusts enough to cozy up to for one of his favorite things in the world: butt scratches! If you try to pet him, he simply rotates around and presents his rear. Butt scratches are definitely his love language.
And then there is Fritz’s other distinctive trait: the hollering! His barks sound more like screams, and we have to admit, it is one of the things that makes Fritz unmistakably Fritz.
He regularly gets field time with Buddy and his sister, Sadie, both of whom arrived with him. Buddy is probably our biggest success story from that original feral group, but Fritz is closing the gap quickly. Watching him learn to trust, relax, and enjoy the people around him has been incredibly rewarding.
We think Fritz might tell you:
“I’m really glad I’m here with Buddy and Sadie. Buddy showed me that humans really aren’t so bad. I gotta admit, butt scratches are absolutely the best feeling in the whole world! And all the caregivers are really nice to me — even after I scream at them. I can’t help the way I sound. It’s just how I bark! But they don’t seem to mind. They still give me treats and butt scratches.
Buddy is braver than I am. He lets them pet his head and scratch his chest. I’m not quite there yet, but maybe someday. For now, I’m pretty happy with my butt scratches.”
The Addison’s Puppy Pow-Wow II
This past week brought another Addison’s Puppy Pow-Wow! Okay, these guys may not exactly be puppies anymore, but they certainly seemed to gather for a serious meeting of the minds.
Eliza, Charlie, Holly P, Ember, Charlie Chattanooga, Tony, and Tyrone all gathered together under the tent. Were they discussing life at the farm? Negotiating for more treats? Planning how to secure extra playtime? Perhaps they were strategizing about how to get more pets from their caregivers.
We may never know.
For once, they actually remained quiet and tight-lipped. Whatever was discussed under that tent, apparently it was strictly confidential!
Kiki is a little pup who is completely enamored with the cats in Addison’s Command Center. Anytime she encounters a cat on the floor, she desperately tries to convince them that they should play with her.
Her favorite target is Buddy the cat — unfortunately for Kiki, Buddy wants absolutely no part of her invitation.
But Kiki is nothing if not determined. She never gives up. She is convinced that, eventually, the cats will realize what she already knows: she would make a wonderfully fun playmate!
We think Kiki would tell you:
“I don’t know why they won’t take some time to play with me! We’re all stuck inside for a while, so why not have some fun? I know they get to roam around, but I’m in a pen a lot of the time. So when I get out? IT’S PLAYTIME!
I know they like to play because I see them having fun when I’m in my pen. I just need them to play with me one time. Just one time! Then they’ll see how much fun we could have together.
One time is all it will take. I just know that time is coming!”
KENNEL
Bonnie — or Bon Bon, as her caregivers lovingly call her — has been with us for six years, ever since she was a puppy. And she has made herself right at home.
Her very best friend is SOS Smokey, and the two of them are happiest when they are together. They race around the field, play to their hearts’ content, and, once they have finally worn themselves out, settle down side by side to soak up the sunshine.
But Bonnie does have a bit of a naughty streak.
Most days, she simply does not want to go back inside when playtime is over. Instead, she turns returning to her run into a game. More often than not, a caregiver ends up chasing Bonnie around the yard, gently trying to guide her toward the door.
And every single caregiver swears they can see Bonnie grinning from ear to ear as they chase her.
We think Bonnie would tell you:
“Dreamweaver Farms is the only home I can remember, and it’s a pretty great place! I get to spend time with Smokey, my very best friend in the whole world. We get to play together, just the two of us, in the big yard. We have so much fun running around.
If we find a stick, even better! We can chew on it, play with it, and have a little tug-of-war. And when we finally get tired, we can stretch out together and take a nice nap in the sunshine.
I especially like to nap right before it’s time to go inside. That way, I can be well-rested and ready to give our caregivers a little exercise! They need to stay in shape if they’re going to take care of all the dogs here, so I make sure they get a little cardio workout whenever I can.
I’m thoughtful like that. I’m sure they’ll thank me later.”
Although SOS Smokey and Bonnie are the same age, Smokey has been with us for a shorter time. On August 2nd, this handsome boy celebrated both his sixth birthday and his third anniversary with us!
Smokey is an SOS dog, which means he will spend the rest of his life here with us. And we are perfectly happy knowing that, because he has found something very special here: Bonnie, his beloved BFF.
Smokey is such a fun boy to have around, and watching him and Bonnie together brings so much joy. To tell you about Smokey would be to repeat much of what we said about Bonnie — except for one important difference.
Smokey is a good boy and doesn’t make his caregivers chase him back inside!
We think Smokey would say:
“I just turned six, and I had a very happy birthday! Anytime I’m with Bonnie, I’m a happy guy. She’s so much fun, and she loves playing just as much as I do.
They tell me I’ll probably spend my whole life here, and honestly, I’m okay with that. As long as Bonnie is here with me, life is pretty great.
The caregivers are pretty wonderful too. They take good care of us, give us treats, and make sure we have everything we need. I really don’t have many complaints.
Well… maybe there is one thing.
Maybe Bonnie and I could share a run? Just a suggestion. Other than that, life is great here!”.
HOUSE
Reed is currently a temporary guest at the House. He is the foster dog of Jessie, one of our former caregivers, and the two of them are going through a difficult time after a tree fell on their home.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, but there is a lot of work to be done before they can return home. So, for now, Reed is spending some time with us.
He has blended in beautifully, even if he does have a few opinions about the goings-on around here. Reed isn’t shy about speaking his mind and will happily let out a bark or two at anyone — human or canine — when he feels the need to make his thoughts known.
He loves approaching people for pets and attention, although sometimes, just when you think he is ready to settle in, he backs away. There is one surefire way to convince Reed to come back and stay close, though:
Treats.
We don’t believe this boy has ever encountered a treat he was willing to refuse!
Reed might tell you:
“It was really scary when the tree crashed into our house. Luckily, no one was hurt, and Mom stayed really calm and made sure I was okay. She told me there’s a lot of work to be done before we can go back home, so I get to stay here for a while.
It’s not home, but it’s not bad either. There are so many dogs here to get to know! All different ages, too — from playful puppies to cranky old seniors. I’m doing my best to find myself a BFF, but so far I’ve just made a few friends.
Mostly, I’m just glad Mom found me such a nice place to stay while our house gets fixed. I know she’ll come back for me when it’s time to go home.”
When Dazzle came to us she was pregnant with pups. After having her pups and successfully raising them to the point they could be adopted, Dazzle was finally ready to cut foot loose. To the delight of her caregivers she recently put on a sudden burst of energy that morphed into a spectacular display of zoomies out on the patio!
We don’t know if it was the sunshine, the freedom of having the patio all to herself, being away from the other dogs she usually spends time with, or simply the fact that Dazzle was having a really, really good day.
Whatever the reason, she was ready to celebrate.
Dazzle zoomed all around the patio, stopped for a moment, and then did it all over again. At one point, she looked up at her caregiver as if to say, “One more?”
And off she went!
From that moment on, she became Razzle Dazzle, and we couldn’t have been happier to see her having such a wonderful time.
We think Dazzle might say:
“I was just in a really good mood! And when I got out there and realized no one else was on the patio, I had all kinds of room to zoom around.
I wasn’t about to let that opportunity slip through my paws!
I zoomed around faster than any little dog ever has. It was SO much fun, I did it again. Then I looked at my caregiver, and I thought, ‘Oh no… I have to do one more!’
Zoomies are so much fun!
I have to admit, though… after three long rounds of zoomies, I was pretty pooped. But it was totally worth it!”
