Using AI Makes You a Good Feminist?

From NY Magazine - The Girlbossification of AI……..Reese Witherspoon, Mel Robbins, and Sheryl Sandberg are telling women to use ChatGPT or get left behind.

Automate as much of your job as you can so you can focus on getting that promotion, get an AI assistant to keep track of your kids’ doctors’ appointments and soccer games, and use ChatGPT to see what you’d look like with bangs without wasting your precious time at a salon…..”

……”Everyone really lost their minds when they saw that Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, had partnered with Purdue University to offer online classes aimed at young women on how to adopt AI. The backlash was so intense she made a follow-up post a few days later. “To be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this,” Witherspoon said. “I don’t believe computers should replace humanity.”

You’re shilling for AI dear, so either you have no idea of the impact AI will have on humanity and planet, or they paid you an awful lot of money you claimed you weren’t paid, or you’re cozying up to future studio owners who are all for AI because why pay actors, writers, directors, producers, grips, location scouts, costumers, dancers, singers, light and sound people, editors, grips, directors, pre-production experts, post-production experts, caterers, or the guy up in the cherry picker shooting the film, when AI can do it all for a fraction of the cost. You don’t need people at all. Even the script itself will be written by AI, based on an algorithm of what sells. Check the data, what are people buying?

Erin Grau, one of the founders of an AI startup, has said that unless women learn to use AI they will be left behind. She refers to AI as the “great equalizer,” that’s a bit of stretch, Erin, and name drops showing Gloria Steinhem how it works. Mel Robbins, discussing her recent partnership with Microsoft Copilot, said, “Oh my God, you have to lean in.” Sandra Bullock is another actress saying we have to lean into AI, so does Demi Moore. Paris Hilton says the she can use her AI self to promote things and be home with her babies at the same time. Sheryl Sandberg, former CEO of facebook and the author of the insipid – Lean In – a how to get along in business book for well-bred young women – has hired a 25-year-old CEO to work on closing the usage gender gap.

The women mentioned in the NY magazine article are all mega-rich and have made a brand out of supporting women. The billions behind AI have clearly decided to advertise the use of AI as a feminist issue and the women quoted in the piece are playing along, letting us know in no uncertain terms that if we use AI we’re good little feminists and if we don’t, we’ll be lost, alone, left behind, and probably fat. This is a big old lie, meant to get people fighting over the pro’s and con’s of AI, in order to distract from the 4^th stage cancer needed to make AI work – the data centers.

Anyone who is shilling for AI is shilling for data centers; AI cannot work without data centers. People shilling for AI will no doubt stamp an indignant foot, exclaiming, I don’t support data centers! in much the way farmers, say they didn’t vote for the orange one’s tariffs to destroy their farms, even though we told you that’s exactly what the tariffs would do.

From the Atlantic – “Data centers, represent a “dystopian” world of high energy consumption, environmental degradation, and community disruption. They act as massive “soda straws” sucking up local water and emitting significant noise pollution (90+ dB), with AI expansion causing increased carbon emissions and massive public health burdens…”

Most data centers rely on gas fired generation; which means the electricity is created by natural gas to turn the turbines. (67 %- 80% of natural gas is fracked) You’re talking air pollution like the kind they have in China. And the noise, omigoddess! Think 1000 buses revving their engines in a closed, underground bunker. That’s what a data center sounds and smells like. Of course, they build data centers in poor neighborhoods because the people don’t have the power to stop them. As ever the ubiquitous they are promising jobs, but the jobs are little more than short-term construction work. There’s no long-term work here of, by, and for the people. Of course there isn’t, because the point of AI and the data centers that run them is to replace workers with machines and robots.

We here at the Kitchen Table Caucus are old and not easily mollified shiny objects. AI was not created to help humanity or planet – it is a surveillance tool purposely invented by a mad man named Peter Theil, to destroy democracy, humanity, and planet and impose an insane version of Christianty, developed by cellibate men no less, on the population. I have never understood why and how celibacy means you’re closer to God. This probably why they put Willheim Reich in jail after he wrote The Function of Orgasm, and left him there to die. No doubt the witch hunts and burnings will resume.

AI is currently being used to create and impose a Techno-fascist-Christian- Nationalist state serving .01% of the population. DNC leadership is piss poor and weak and democrats take every bit as much money for AI as the repulsives.

Data Centers are springing up all over the country, despite packed town halls of very angry, screaming people. The environmental devastation the data centers will cause is overwhelming and as usual patriarchy and money, patriarchy’s favorite child, refuses to recognize the connection between human and planetary health, because they don’t care. It doesn’t affect them in their bunkers. They are simply spoiling their favorite child, reorganizing the world around the needs of money and profit. I used to wonder how people could be purposely cruel. I don’t wonder anymore, I accept it as a given.

I googled the women celebs fighting AI and found that Scarlett Johansson and Cate Blanchet have joined a 700-member campaign against AI in the arts. I’ve posted the link to the group in the receipts section.
