The FT had an important story on the exodus of professionals from Israel. The settler colony has rarely seen net outmigration in its entire history. Since Oct 7, however, there has been a steady brain drain.
Nearly one percent of Israel’s population has been leaving each year. Those abandoning the ship are disproportionately liberal professionals. ‘A survey last year found much higher interest in leaving among secular Jews than among religious or ultra-Orthodox Jews.’
Secular liberal professionals are leaving because the country has been increasingly taken over by orthodox Jews and ultranationalist settlers. What is driving the takeover is the war of numbers. Simply put, liberal Ashkenazi professionals are being outbred.
