Speaking His Truth

Last night, after writing and tweaking and rewriting and agonizing and going over and over and over and over it again, PJ shared that his father passed away last week in a heartfelt and vulnerable essay that was extremely difficult to post. Our family has been dealing with the complicated feelings of losing a parent who wasn’t a very good parent over the last week and feeling all of the ups and downs that go along with that. We’ve been it with family who have been amazing and have let us lean on them, with everyone pitching in in different ways to help one another out. It’s been a beautiful experience in that way, seeing everyone come together. Overall, I am so proud of PJ for speaking his truth and sharing what was going on behind closed doors for so many years. For so long, no one knew the hurt and devastation he felt. Everyone only saw what was presented to the world. Now they know. And now we know his words will surely help others going through something similar.

He’s my hero.
