Our assistant Ethan, who of course has become a dear friend of ours, had his birthday yesterday, so we surprised him with a birthday party at home! We invited our family over for shish kebobs and I made my favorite sheet-pan cake, and he opened presents around the dining room table. After dinner, my siblings and their spouses stayed late as we all gathered and talked in the living room for a bit, just soaking up each other’s company and catching up for a while. It was the perfect evening, and reminded me what’s really important in life: good food, good wine, and most importantly, time spent with family. We all agreed around the table last night, we sure are going to miss Ethan when he leaves next year!
Dolly Parton passed away yesterday, and it’s all we see on our social media feeds. Our hearts are broken, like I’m sure yours are, too. She was everything to everyone. What a loss. What a heavy, heartbreaking loss that will be felt for a very long time.
