We have family in town, so we decided to make dinner for everyone last night. I normally find myself in the kitchen (it’s my comforting happy place) alone, but PJ decided to take the reins and make his famous chicken tortilla soup for everyone. He is such a good cook, a much more inventive one than I am, and the two of us in the kitchen cooking together is my idea of a gift. The kids were with PJ’s aunt at her pool all day; she graciously volunteered to take them all day so we could get things done, so having that alone time felt very special in a way. While he made the soup, I made soft tacos and then we bagged it all up and took it over to PJ’s mom’s house so his family could eat. I don’t think there’s anything more comforting than making food for the people you love.
We were bone tired yesterday, having not caught up on our sleep for the last week since being back from the beach and starting school and dealing with some family stuff. We’ll get there.
