Trip #4: The Northeast, Fall 2019

It’s been 10 years since starting Piney Wood Atlas, and we’re celebrating and feeling nostalgic! Leading up to our next trip, we are looking back at each of our trips and remembering all the good times.

September & October, 2019

Our fourth road trip took us to a region where Alicia had spent a lot of time, but Carolina had very little. It was Alicia’s idea to shake up our usual Spring/Summer road trip timing and visit the Northeast in its full autumn glory. Amidst the changing leaves (and cider donuts), we found weird, cool, and special places that made space for chefs, gardeners, queer BIPOC activists, environmental artists, and more. Residencies in homes, a trailer park, farms, and a recycling facility. Across Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine we experienced:
