It’s that time of year again. Happy Eclipse Season!
Eclipse season is, well, a lot. Without fail, every eclipse season I’m met with a barrage of texts, emails, and messages from friends, family members, and clients, all of whom are struggling.
Everyone is going through something different, but the general themes remain the same: chaos, overwhelm, emotion, and unpredictability.
“WHAT IS GOING ON?” they inevitably ask.
To which I always answer: “It’s eclipse season!”
To save you a lot of time, tears, and struggle, here’s a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over again during eclipse season: YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL. Even as an astrologer, whose literal job it is to predict outcomes, I’ve been humbled by the unpredictability of the season.
Since eclipses activate the Lunar Nodes, they mark a period of fated beginnings and endings. Basically, the next two weeks act like one big ole’ wake up call. The Universe is calling and it wants you to get your life back on track.
As eclipses occur on a Full and New Moon, they always happen in pairs. The two weeks between these events (in this case, from September 7 to September 21) is known as the Eclipse Portal.
This is when things really get wild. Doors close so metaphorical windows can open. Endings ensure new beginnings. Unforeseen circumstances pop up, forcing you re-evaluate your life direction.
But in and of themselves, the two events are pretty different. Let’s break it down:
September 7 is a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, which occurs on the Full Moon.
On this date, the Moon will be conjunct the North Node, making it associated with new beginnings, or things coming into being. In general, I like this eclipse better, because the rulers of the Sun and Moon are happily placed, with Mercury in domicile in Virgo and Jupiter exalted in Cancer. This makes the energy of the lunation somewhat smoother, allowing us to move through the lessons presented with more ease.
September 21 is a Solar Eclipse in Virgo, which occurs on the New Moon.
Since the Sun and Moon are conjunct the South Node, this eclipse is associated with release and letting go. Unfortunately, I don’t expect this lunation to go as smoothly, largely because the Sun and Moon in Virgo are ruled by Mercury in Libra, where it has less agency, while also opposing Saturn Rx in Pisces. This brings confusion, restriction, and a sense of heaviness to the event, as we are being forced to release something from the Virgo part of our chart.
The Eclipse Series we’re going through right now is on the Virgo-Pisces Axis, which means if you have placements in Pisces or Virgo, you will likely feel it more. Pull up your chart and check to see which houses Pisces and Virgo occupy, and for bonus points, the position of their rulers. This will give you more insight to what themes may be activated for you during this time.
It’s also important to remember that everything that is happening right now is part of a much larger story, one that lasts 2.5 years. This story began last September and will continue to play out until early 2027.
The dates of the eclipses on Pisces-Virgo Axis are as follows:
September 17, 2024 - 26° Pisces (Lunar Eclipse)
March 14, 2025 - 24° Virgo (Lunar Eclipse)
September 7, 2025- 15° Pisces (Lunar Eclipse)
September 21, 2025 -29° Virgo (Solar Eclipse)
March 3, 2026 - 13° Virgo (Lunar Eclipse)
August 28, 2026 - 5° Pisces (Lunar Eclipse)
February 20, 2027 - 2° Virgo (Lunar Eclipse)
My best advice is keep a written record surround all these dates. For the eclipses that have already passed, go back in your journal, look at your old photos, and write down what was going on. Over the course of the next two weeks, journal often and write down what is happening in your life, especially around September 7 and September 21. Lastly, mark the upcoming eclipse dates down in your calendar as a reminder for your future self.
Over time, you’ll begin to piece together the story of this eclipse series, and with that story will come perspective, and eventually, revelations.
Since eclipse season is such a chaotic and fated time, I recommend being deliberate with your manifestations. This includes taking a break from spell-casting, moon rituals, crystal charging, or any other spiritual practices that work with the energy of the moon.
However, some practitioners like to work the chaotic energy of eclipses as a way to speed up events. Whatever you decide, make sure it resonates with you and your practice.
Take deep breaths. Meditate. Practice divination. Spend time in nature. Journal as much as you possibly can. But most importantly — pay attention to what’s happening! The things that happen during eclipse season don’t just go away. They are big, bigger than the events themselves, woven into your life trajectory as part of your chosen fate.
Lastly, if you can relax and remember that everything is happening as it should, you can (and will) survive eclipse season!
As my gift to you, here’s a free link to an eclipse season meditation if you need some guidance during this chaotic time.
