The idea of visual cues sits at the center of everything I do in photography. I’ve talked about it in many of my YouTube videos, and I’ve built an entire program around it to explore the depth and nuance it deserves. The idea is simple, but it can also be complex if you choose to go deeper, which is how most worthwhile things tend to be.

Still, I’ve always wanted a way to explain it quickly. Something you could grasp in minutes, at a glance, without having to follow a linear lesson from start to finish.

It’s a quick reference guide. A set of cheat sheets. I’ve called these a Visual Cues Playbook. Call it what you like. The goal is straightforward: to help you see the concept clearly, to give you a visual handle on it, especially if it hasn’t quite clicked before. I’m sharing it here for free because I want anyone who follows my work to understand this.

I hope these show you the potential behind the idea. Visual cues can change the way you approach photography. They can make the process more engaging, more intentional, and more rewarding. You begin to create images that have meaning, images that feel like something.

If you want to go deeper, I’ve built a full Visual Cues program. It includes an AI-powered coach that helps you understand what you’re doing well and where you’re falling short. It’s designed for people who want to move past the surface, past images that are simply nice or technically correct.

Know someone who could benefit from this idea? You know what to do. :)
