Welcome to my first Substack post

I assume you are here because I wrote something (in the future) that interested you enough to want to read more, and you ended up on the first post. Congrats to future me for having accomplished this. Also congrats to you for having made it to my first post! Sorry to say, there’s not much here other than a few things I thought (possibly incorrectly) this space would be about.

I made the decision to create this space when I was reading a bit about how to improve your ideas, and the key concept that struck me was that criticism was the tool that made ideas better. I realized that the only way for me to have better ideas was for me to put whatever I was currently thinking into the ether and get back criticisms. So this space will consist of whatever I’m currently thinking, and I will (try to) be thrilled with whatever comments/questions/criticisms are generated (in good faith) by whoever engages with what I’ve written.

In terms of topics, its 2023 and I’m a researcher in AI/ML for automatically getting stuff out of speech and audio signals. GPT-4 was released recently and AGI’s been on my mind which will probably make an appearance in early posts. Other topics/identities that will likely make an appearance are pragmatism, disability, deafness, buddhism, critical rationalism, post-christianity, post-colonialism, to name but a few.

Okay, enough spitballing and time to write some actually interesting stuff.
