Welcome
to no words,
only visions—
a home,
an open door,
a woman of welcome,
a fire gifting warmth.
One by one,
hidden parts of me
enter.
One by one,
I find my seat
by the hearth.
One by one,
I am kissed,
I am fed,
gathered up
in Your house,
      Mercy,
made whole
again.

I’ll keep it short and sweet today.

Where does today’s poem meet you? What emotions, longings, or images does it evoke? What type of prayer does it compel you to pray?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Consider sharing in the comments below.

If you enjoy what you’re reading at This House of Longing, or if you’re feeling kind-of-heart this morning, consider leaving a tip and buying me a decaf cubano :) Any small “thank you” means a lot as I look to keep this space subscription-free.
