It’s a hot one, properly hot. Thirties, thick humidity and a couple of thundery mornings, so this is a week for shade, cold drinks and picking your moments. One heads-up before you head out: heat and storms can pull plans at short notice, so check with organisers before you travel.
The World Cup is everywhere too — barely a screen in SE15 that isn’t showing it, and every match brings its own crowd. We’re steering around the fixtures (there are a lot of them) and pointing you at the rest: Pride-season wellness, late club sets, a graduate photography takeover, and a few cool corners to duck into when it all gets too much.
It's Pride weekend in the borough, too — Southwark's own is on Saturday, more below. And one to raise a glass to: SET Social is back on its feet, with a proper re-opening party next week, more in Save the Date below.

Thursday is exceptionally hot and humid with near-unbroken sunshine — an easterly breeze builds through the afternoon, which should take a little edge off. Friday and Saturday hold onto the heat, still very hot and humid with plenty of sun, though both mornings carry a risk of scattered thunderstorms. Gosnells is closing its Peckham brewery — though “closing” is doing some heavy lifting here. The team’s scaling up, not winding down, so the brand isn’t going anywhere; it’s the yard that’s meant to be shutting. And it keeps not shutting. The send-off was supposed to have happened already, but a ridiculous run of sunshine and a deluge of orders kept the tanks on and bumped the whole thing to Saturday. Call it attempt two.
So there’s one more big party in the sun before the shutters finally come down: fresh Gosnells straight from the tanks, music all day, a brewery yard sale, and afters rolling on at John the Unicorn. It’s the yard where Gosnells grew up, it’s free to get in, and dogs are especially welcome. At the rate they’re going, we wouldn’t bet on those shutters actually closing — come down and test the theory.

It's the first time Altered Images and IKLECTIK have joined forces, two platforms rooted in experimental art, underground music and immersive A/V. Years of Denial headline, with Machine Woman, Inda Flo, Gertie Adelaido and more across live sets, DJ sets, projected visuals and installation work — light, noise and movement, dusk till dawn.

🖼️ holding pattern (Fri 26 Jun, 6–9pm opening, then Sat–Sun 10am–6pm, Peckham Oasis Gallery, free): A five-artist group show — Chris Wieland, Georgina Woods, Jonathan Ind, Kazuma Watanabe and Medb Laing-Gatehouse. The poster keeps it cryptic: a ghostly, near-negative image of a half-built structure, all exposed steel and scaffolding — which, with a title like that, points at things caught mid-change and held in between.
🏳️🌈 Pride in Southwark (Sat 27 Jun, march from 12pm, festival 1–6pm, Mint Street Park, SE1, free): The borough's grassroots Pride is back for a fourth year — no corporate sponsors, just a march from the London LGBTQ+ Centre into an afternoon of music, drag and community stalls. Kate Butch, Son of a Tutu and host Anna Toni lead the stage, and the after-party rolls on at The Rising from 6pm.
🎶 Community choir fundraiser for Robes Project (Sat 27 Jun, 7:30–10pm, Copleston Centre, SE15 4AN, £6 / £4 conc): Four local choirs — Nunhead, Palace A Cappella, Beckenham A Cappella and Telegraph Hill — raising funds for Robes Project's winter shelter.
🎬 An Evening with Ben Wheatley (Wed 1 Jul, 7pm, MULTI STORY @ Peckham Levels, £14.63): Director Ben Wheatley in person — a live Dave Welder set (his project with Richard Norris), a screening of Bulk, and a Q&A.
With the forecast doing what it’s doing this week, a dark, properly cooled room starts to look like the smartest plan in SE15 — and the Plex has a mixed bag to match it.
Leading the new releases is Supergirl (12A), with Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El alongside David Corenswet and Eve Ridley — an interstellar story of vengeance and justice that kicks off when an unexpected threat lands close to home. There are advance screenings this Thursday (6pm & 8:30pm) before it opens properly on Friday.
For something gentler, 500 Miles (12A) puts Bill Nighy at the centre of a road-trip drama: two brothers, worried their parents’ marriage is coming apart, set off to reach their troubled grandfather in Ireland.
Two more land this week. Jackass: Best and Last (18) brings Knoxville, Steve-O, Wee Man and the rest back for a final round of stunts and pranks to close out the franchise — dangerous humour, billed accordingly.
And Obsession (18) is the horror wildcard: a low-budget film that came from nowhere, picked up a stack of awards, and is now drawing Backrooms comparisons — a hopeless romantic breaks the “One Wish Willow” to win his crush, gets exactly what he wished for, then finds out it comes at a price.
