Mars enters Aries. Blazing a Trail

On April 9th Warrior Mars returns home to Aries and spends 5 weeks blazing a trail through the sign, meeting Neptune, Mercury, Saturn, Chiron and the Sun/Moon on his way. OOSH!

This initial period between April 9 and April 20 is particularly volatile, vital and even violent, so what’s the deal?

The conjunction of Mars, Saturn and Mercury on the 19th of April is a one to watch. Mars/Saturn aspects are often highly militarised & forceful. When the drive of Mars meets the authority of Saturn the sound of steel on steel resounds.

Think of Mars as the accelerator and Saturn as the brakes… hit them both at once, and we all know the result.

I expect world news to be intense. Mars has more agency to act in Aries than in Pisces and as the War Pigs keep compromising the resources we all need to live, people may get Mad Max on it faster than we think. . . Are you ready for that?

The last time Mars and Saturn met was at 14 Pisces on April 11, 2024 when in response to Israel bombing an Iranian consulate, Iran seized the Israeli-linked ship MSC “Aries”... what followed was Iran sending hundreds of drones to attack Israel which was met with increased international involvement.

Will we see a similar escalation of things between these two parties now? More countries getting their oil by switching sides or making a stand?

This time…Mars is at home in Aries and has even more firepower, getting the upper hand on Saturn’s attempts at boundARIES. It will be less easy to contain the violence.

We all need to watch for pressure cooker situations where the urge to blast through obstacles may rise. Take extra care in sports, with heavy machinery and in all physically risky scenarios or where conflict already exists, as it can easily boil over.

You may want to go faster than real world limits allow.

That said, frustration shows us where the status quo simply cannot hold, people will be wanting to draw a line then set it on fire! Sometimes...we need to cut things off in order for them to heal.

Also, wherever you have Aries in your chart, Saturn is laying down karmic tasks for the next two years, this months activation may highlight the birthing pains of that story.

Saturn in Aries wants us to become more independently response-able to shed the inherited stories of identity (by facing them first) but then actually maturing them into the selves we want to be. A healthy individuated ego that actually functions as such.

• Which kind of suffering now leads to less suffering later?

• What kind of endurance carves a new path and what kind just keeps us stuck?

• What fights are worth fighting?

• What/Who needs to be cut off ASAP?

• Where are you absolutely unapologetically fkn ready to BEGIN AGAIN and what actions are required to make that a reality?

Because remember… Aries is the first sign! Cardinal fire that “Springs” in motion.

These are good reflections for your new moon intentions on the 17th of April.

Mercury in Aries is a sharp tongued trickster and when meeting Neptune we may see inflated propaganda, fear mongering, religious/spiritual zeal encouraging violence and more dramatic events at sea or around water. Mars may actually cut open a story thats been functioning to inflame and deflect, red herrings and so on.

Protests could flare especially when Mars first enters and aspects Pluto in Aquarius on the 17th.

Don’t believe everything you hear especially when it’s loaded with fear and anger but do allow yourself to feel your passionate DEVOTION in action and use clear, honest, communication.

Mercury in Aries wants us to make direct requests, stating fears, desires and boundaries clearly. We don’t need fluff to be effective, perhaps you finally have the courage to ask for what you want, or perhaps someone will ask you for something. If you are tempted to fawn, remember “Yes” or “No” are also complete sentences.

Non-violent communication skills will come in handy.

On a more positive note, beacuase EVERYTHING exists on a spectrum.

Aries is passionate, vital, turned on and ready to go.

Mars entering his home turf brings a blast of fresh energy it’s just about how we handle that fire. It can be brave, sexy, sweaty, pioneering energy that simply needs a direction to focus on. Like the clear head after a workout, Mars is best when he has something to DO.
