For the fourth year running, a zine fair will be held at the Bodleian Library in Oxford to showcase and celebrate the creative process of zine makers. And we’ll be there!

This year it is held on Saturday, the 28th of February, in Blackwell Hall in the Weston library. Find out more here.

In the heart of Oxford city centre, this free fair is open to the public to browse stalls, admire creators’ craft, explore the process of creating a zine, and hear from creators firsthand.

Join us to create your own zine on the Oxford Brookes stand, check out our latest student zines which we create in our magazine journalism module, and attend a live podcasting recording with the Brookes Podcast Society, run by myself and others on the BA Media, Journalism and Publishing degree.

This interactive event is from 11:00 am - 15:00 pm. The fair offers a space for Oxford communities to come together, share their work, and build new connections. This year, the Fair theme is ‘The Writer’s Process,’ emphasising the importance of the journey rather than the outcome in creativity.

With a blend of students, artists and independent creators, you will see a wide range of zines from handcrafted to poetry to graphic design. There is something to inspire everyone. These zine-makers, illustrators and writers come together to celebrate this self-publishing creative journey.

In 2025, the fair was themed ‘Alternative Futures’, allowing creators to explore new possibilities and visions of the future through zine-making. MJP students created a whole issue around it, which you can see here on our course publication Hybridzine and we’ll be swapping print copies of our 2025 zine at the 2026 Fair with other zine makers.

After browsing the stalls, at 13:00 pm make your way to the Sir Victor Blank Lecture Theatre to hear from zine makers, creatives and companies for a zine discussion.

Hosted by the Oxford Brookes Podcast Society and MA Journalism students, this insightful panel will ask its guests about their zine process, its place in the creative sphere and the future of zines.

With Speakers from TYPE!, INDUSTRY Magazine, Ruskin School of Arts, Said Business School, and the Warehouse Art School, you will hear their first-hand insights. With the chance to ask questions in the Q&A section, come along and hear all about ‘The Writer’s Process’.

This upcoming fair is more than simply viewing zines, but offers the opportunity to connect with the creators behind them. Network with like-minded individuals and celebrate ‘The Writer’s Process’ behind the zine.

Look beyond the finished page and explore the creative process, whilst getting inspired by this self-publishing community. The lively atmosphere will draw you in, surrounding you in creativity, inspiration and conversation.

Tell a friend and head down to The Weston Library on Saturday, the 28th of February, from 11:00 am - 15:00 pm
