In Brief #2: an update on a recent furore

At the end of last week some of my tweets went viral. Since then, another Substack has made a number of untrue assertions about my views and professional conduct. I have written the Substack setting out specific factual inaccuracies and have requested corrections. For now, while I give the author a fair opportunity to respond, I won’t go into further detail. But should that not happen I will follow up here. Stay tuned.

Update, May 7th, 2026

On April 8th at the AGM of the Medical Journalists Asssociation a motion was proposed, and passed. I and a number of other journalists at the MJA were happy to support this. The motion is as follows:

The MJA supports free speech and evidence-based healthcare. We welcome robust debate as this informs health literacy and promotes accurate, independent information. Journalists must be free to cover controversial issues without fear of, intimidation, censorship, reprisals or attacks on their integrity.
