Welcome to The Well-Read Week — a Sunday morning newsletter written for moms like you who love books and are trying to find the time to read them.
Good morning,
This was one of those weeks filled with curveballs. There was a big event where I had to drop everything, shift gears, and take action. I realized that after almost 8 years of being a mother, maybe my ability to pivot has grown significantly. The unexpected doesn't rattle me quite as much as it used to. I've learned to hold steady, adjust, and keep moving, even when the week doesn't look anything like what I planned. Some days feel like I’m in survival mode, but I hope when I look back I’ll appreciate my resilience.
Today is going to be a push to get everything done this morning so that we can watch the World Cup final this afternoon! My son is obsessed with Messi, so I’m sure he’ll be rooting for Argentina. We may be a bit of a house divided.
📱 I finished Maggie and Arthur’s Magic Moment by Leslie René — A cozy romantasy about quarrelling professors who have to set aside their differences to leverage their talents against a haunting magic called a “pall”. Full review to come!
🎧My library audiobook hold for Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke came in. I’m buckling up for a wild ride. I’m not expecting to like it, but I’m having FOMO, feeling like I’m the last person on the internet to read this book.
Spending a little extra time with my kids this week and meeting their teachers for the upcoming school year. They go back to school tomorrow. We’re as ready as we can be, which is not ready. It is entirely too early and too hot to cut our sweet summer short! My youngest starts kindergarten, and while I’m ready to have both kids at the same school, it’s bittersweet that we are hitting this milestone already.
Katie’s reminder: Joy is best shared with others.
Happy reading,
