Every Friday, I’m going to post up at Variety coffee, after my 7AM boxing class, and listen to an album that releases that same Friday!
Okay so I opened a show last week: The Taming of the Shrew as part of my Shakespeare, CSE project. If you’re in NYC: come see it!
It’s thrown my boxing and my listening cadence off BUT I WILL CONTINUE THIS WEEK FOR REAL! Apologies for the delay in posting. I will listen to this over a train ride and in a coffee shop.
That said, as always, I will type out my gut reactions to each song as I listen and post them here! They will be much more candid, funny, acerbic, and raw than my usual posts. I won’t edit the reactions at all… once the album is over, pens down, writing stops.
I like to think of them as text conversations you can have with me as you listen to the album as well. Or a live Tweet of the album-RIP Twitter.
Due to the high volume of releases, these could be records that go on to be highlights of my year or simply one and dones that I will never listen to again. I can’t promise they will always be good albums, but I can promise you that it will always be a new release and there are going to be fifty of ‘em. It will be a fantastic way for you (and me) to listen to some new music we may not have heard otherwise.
