Welcome to OpenBuild Dev Digest #111!

This digest covers emerging physical security risks, new RWA Layer2 and AI-driven on-chain security changes. CertiK’s H1 report reveals a 33.3% year-on-year jump in violent wrench attacks targeting crypto holders, with $124.1 million total exposed assets, France as the core hotspot and home invasion incidents skyrocketing. Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Ethereum L2 focused on tokenized stocks and RWAs, went live with surging DEX volume, though real-world asset applications remain immature. The long-standing security assumption that exploits take human experts weeks to craft is invalidated: AI agents can mass-scan contracts and generate functional exploits at unprecedented speed, creating severe defense asymmetry for all Web3 builders.

✍️ CertiK Intel3D H1 2026 Wrench Attacks 👉Read(EN)

CertiK Intel3D’s H1 2026 Wrench Attacks report shows that physical violence against crypto holders has become a serious and growing threat. CertiK recorded 52 verified incidents worldwide in the first half of 2026, up 33.3% year over year, with reported losses and ransom demands reaching about $124.1 million.

The threat is highly concentrated in Europe, especially France, which accounted for 33 of the 52 incidents. The biggest tactical shift was the rise of crypto-related home invasions, which jumped from 1 reported case in H1 2025 to 20 in H1 2026. Kidnappings also remained high, while torture and murder continued to appear in confirmed cases.

✍️ Ten Questions and Answers: A Comprehensive Guide to Robinhood Chain 👉Read(EN)

On July 1, 2026, Robinhood officially launched the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain. It is an Ethereum Layer 2 designed for financial services and real-world assets (RWAs). Built using Arbitrum technology, the network supports Stock Tokens, decentralized finance (DeFi), perpetual futures, and applications powered by AI agents.

Onchain activity grew rapidly following the mainnet launch. According to a Bernstein report published on July 13, Robinhood Chain recorded approximately $3.1 billion in decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volume over the previous seven days, briefly ranking among the five largest blockchain networks by DEX volume. The network held approximately $300 million in stablecoins and $13 million in tokenized stocks. However, memecoin trading accounted for a large share of the early activity, while the RWA applications for which the network was designed remained at an early stage.

The following ten questions explain Robinhood Chain’s positioning, technology, Stock Tokens, user access, and current ecosystem.

✍️ The Exploit Asymmetry: AI Attacks Faster Than You Can Patch 👉Read(EN)

For years, the comforting story in smart-contract security was that exploits were hard. Finding a real, profitable bug took a skilled human, weeks of staring at code, and a lot of luck. Audits, bug bounties, and formal verification were built around that assumption: that the attacker’s job was slow.

That assumption is breaking. Research now shows that AI agents can autonomously read a contract, find a vulnerability, and produce a working, validated exploit, fast and at scale. One study concluded that more than half of the blockchain exploits carried out in 2025 could have been executed autonomously by current AI agents. The attacker’s job stopped being slow.

This lands in the middle of a brutal stretch for DeFi, with one recent quarter setting a record for the sheer number of exploits and roughly three quarters of a billion dollars stolen. So the question for anyone shipping on-chain code is not whether this matters. It is what the asymmetry actually is, how much of it is real versus hype, and what defense looks like when the other side has the same AI you do, plus better incentives.
