The U.S. Doesn't Win Modern Wars - Pt. 2

Political Climate and Media Inside the U.S.

American citizens are usually supportive when U.S. troops are deployed at the start of a war. At that point it becomes a cause to show that while they may not stand behind every reason the government explained for the war, they express love and concern for American soldiers. That’s logical.

It needs to be mentioned that President Donald Trump promised his supporters and all other Americans that he wouldn’t allow the U.S. to find itself into any foreign wars. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted war with Iran – and asked Trump to join. Israel and the U.S. bombed Iran while all three parties were in active negotiations so that it wouldn’t escalate. Netanyahu as stated that he wanted this war with Iran “for 40 years.”

In Vietnam, the war became unpopular in neighborhoods, the workplace, in politics, inside the government, within the military, and the media. Once support to oppose the U.S. actions in Vietnam began to scream, they didn’t cease. The anti-war movement swelled alongside every news report showing footage of gruesome U.S. operations nationwide.

What Makes This War Different From Vietnam?

Crude. Oil.

Iran can dictate the movement of oil markets across Earth. The Strait of Hormuz is responsible for 20%-30% of the world’s oil consumption; at times peaking at 34%. All that precious energy moves through a chokepoint that Iran’s missiles control. Even as Israel bombs other key energy areas in the country, Iran continues to sell and export their oil. Several countries have tankers either in gridlock inside the strait or petrified of attacks because Iran has promised to sink any ships that don’t have their authorization to be there. Three vessels a day sail the waterway. Before the war, the number was 138.

Iran can continue commerce with countries like China and Russia for oil - and replenish it’s offensive weapons simultaneously. This can provide stamina should Israel and the U.S. find themselves frustrated that the volume of their attacks have yet to produce a surrender declaration from Iran.

Who Benefits From This War?

Israel.

Then, the U.S. by having their representative project American power and dominance in the region. This is Israel’s war. They also get the good fortune of risking predominantly American forces instead of their own. A prolonged battle led by the larger military of the U.S. benefits the Greater Israel wish. More land. IDF are slicing off sections of Lebanon seemingly daily. Threatening to seize whatever they want.

Netanyahu is banking on escalation in the region. For one, it keeps the U.S. invested in this war. It helps him specifically, his far-right government, and his supporters at home and abroad. Trump’s hubris won’t allow reasoned thought. If Iran stays in this war no matter the cost, Trump will have to match them because he’s talked himself into being the smartest and strongest leader the world has ever known. Will his ego allow him to back away?

If the U.S. aids in destabilizing Iran to the point where Netanyahu and Israel can install a government of his choosing, and therefore provisionally annex Iran, Netanyahu will be labeled as completing a righteous good inside Israel and the U.S. It would be the crowning achievement of his career.

Not by those with ears and eyes. Independent media is adamantly calling attention to Netanyahu. Since the U.S. seems to take the position that it must partner with Israel in its colonial wishes, it can’t sever connections. The capture of U.S. legacy media by the Ellison family has a mandate to produce glowing coverage of Netanyahu, Trump, and their governments.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is unapologetically connected to MAGA and an alarming number of Democrats. Other Jewish lobby groups that function with the same Zionist-centered worldview are spending millions to primary U.S. politicians of all parties that don’t lovingly accept Israel’s perspective. The Zionist Organization of America — whose president is incredibly positive about clearing Gaza — and the Republican Jewish Coalition have been funded by Miriam Adelson due to their far-right visions of Israel’s future and how it’s intertwined with the U.S. Adelson, a billionaire mega-donor, who supports Netanyahu and Trump owns Israeli newspapers Israel Hayom and Makor Rishon.

Why Won’t the U.S. Abandon Israel?

Guilt. The U.S. holds a deep level of regret over the manner and speed in which they ultimately decided to help Jews during the Nazi regime in Europe. One incident that penetrated the sympathies of citizens globally was when the St. Louis, a German ship carrying around 937 mostly Jewish passengers fleeing certain death, was denied entry to the U.S. after the vessel was also shunned by Cuba on May 27, 1939; although Cuba admitted 28. Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France accepted larger shares.

Netanyahu and others with an-Israel-project-at-all-costs mindset push this button on the U.S. when the moment calls for it. Anytime it’s activated, the U.S. responds loyal, apologetic, and primed to assist. When it comes to the subject of Jews, the U.S. government seems intent on righting a wrong from the past. Also, Trump would love the adulation he’d receive if this worked out well for the U.S.

Hmm. The U.S. doesn’t behave similarly when it comes to two atrocities predating the St. Louis or the Holocaust.

Looking Forward

Netanyahu would love if the Iran war mirrored how the U.S. wars against Afghanistan and Iraq concluded. Leaving both countries to sectarian violence and warring factions vying for control. An act of serendipity that would be. If that transpired Israel would become a spectator with the greatest seats.

If MAGA holds the White House whether Trump refuses to leave or another rises to replace him, Israel has their way. If the right Democrat wins – one supported by AIPAC or another Zionist aligned organization – Netanyahu still triumphs. In this scenario, Middle East upheaval would crave some form of peace. Since America will never demand that Israel fight its own battles, their acquisition of land will see nary a stop light. Even as Netanyahu redraws borders because he wants to. Odd that he doesn’t receive scorn when World War II was fought to stop one man from the same ambitions.

Israel doesn’t care how this war is perceived by the outside world. That the world economy is negatively affected, unless you’re holding oil stock, doesn’t factor into Netanyahu’s dream. Skyrocketing oil costs will eventually warm the seat under Trump who does keep an eye on the U.S. economy to a certain degree.

People are afraid to be critical of Israel, their government, and Netanyahu. Weird world.

Innocent people are dying and will continue to. Many are dying right now.

When Americans were presented with the choice of a reasonable alternative, 49.9% of voters selected this administration.
