You might get a kick out of this one.
Some guy on r/SideProject got tired of waiting for ideas to strike.
So he automated it.
Every morning, whatever the internet’s most obsessive builders shipped yesterday lands on his desk. Fresh. Sorted. Waiting.
He didn’t get more creative.
He built a conveyor belt.
Ideas stopped being the scarce thing. Now the only question left is which one he actually wants to persue.
Steal it:
Pick one feed. GitHub trending. A subreddit. Show HN.
Check it daily for two weeks. Write down every “wait, why doesn’t that exist yet” moment.
Ten minutes a day. That’s your idea list sorted.
But here’s the part nobody warns you about.
Another guy pointed a crawler at 40,000 indie launches to see what people actually ship. Called it StackScope. Fun rabbit hole.
Also a graveyard.
Because most of what gets built never gets found. Not because it’s bad.
Because “I shipped it” and “people can find it” are two completely different jobs.
And almost everybody only does the first one.
Here’s what I keep chewing on.
Half of those 40,000 launches are just tools built on other tools. A clever wrapper doesn’t own. And I mean that as a compliment. It works.
The wild part? The building blocks are just sitting there.
Pick your API:
Exa - search the web the way an LLM would
Firecrawl - turn any website into clean markdown for AI
Apify - a ready-made scraper for basically anything
Replicate - run almost any AI model with one call
Snap a few of those together, wrap them in an interface someone actually cares about, and that’s a product.
Everyone’s now sprinting toward AI-first, agent-does-the-clicking, skip-the-website.
We’re not there yet. Not close.
Your customer is still typing into a search box. Still landing on a page. Still deciding whether you look legit.
But here’s the catch.
They can’t judge a page they never find.
And getting found is the one job everybody saves for last.
So stop, treating distribution as the thing you do later.
That’s the whole reason I built onlyTraction.
Everywhere your thing should be listed, plus the tactics to actually get seen. So you’re not rebuilding from scratch every time you ship.
SaaS chasing its first hundred users? Yes.
Normal business that just wants to be findable? Also yes.
Quick honest bit.
1,500+ directories now. AI features baked in for Lifetime members.
Lifetime’s $49 for one more week. Then it goes up.
If you’ve been circling it, circle one more time and just get it.
Before I go.
Do you run a Shopify store? Or do ecom SEO for clients?
Because I just built something I (probably) over-built.
Shop Mentions. A native AI tracker, Shopify only.
It pulls your product feed. Checks what’s actually ranking in AI search. Then helps you get featured.
Hand on heart: best tracker a Shopify store can have right now.
If that’s you, or a client, hit reply.
I want a handful of real stores in it before I talk about it properly.
P.S. The irony of a tool that helps you get found being something you found in an email is not lost on me.
P.P.S. onlyTraction has generous free tier to try it.
