The 2028 frontrunner has arrived

There is a 2028 frontrunner … they just don’t know it yet. And I’m guessing neither do you. Or at least, some of you. But you don’t need to be a genius to watch his speech in Atlanta (clip in video) to realize this candidate has virtually everything required to not just win the nomination, but clean house in the general election.

We’ve amassed enough firepower to end the world a thousand times over, but we can’t summon the will to guarantee healthcare and pre-k. It’s the crushing weakness of our politics against the unmet needs of our people, and the massive stakes of our times that’s shaking our faith in the future.

Our power’s right there, just waiting for us to pick it up and use it. And a wave is building. The kind of wave that comes once in a generation, when the people have been pushed too far, and they decide, altogether, all at once, to say what? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

First, he looks like a goddamn superhero whose alter ego is the president:

And has he been hitting the gym? If he were a firefighter, I’d light my house on fire just so he could carry me out. And I’m not attracted to men.

Now, I know he’s said he is absolutely not interested in running for president, but goddamnit Jon, do you have any clue how hard that makes us like you? Playing hard to get is for the playground, not the campaign trail. But we’ll let it slide.

Fortunately, “I’m not considering running for president” is what all candidates say, especially when they’re running for a 6-year term, which in this case, would need to be abandoned after only two years.

But fear not, as long as Lance Bottoms wins the governor’s race, she’d be the one to name his replacement in the Senate, giving them a huge four-year head start before they’d be up for reelection.

Second, go back to that quote from above. People don’t talk about generational change when they’re working to hold one out of 100 seats in the Senate.

Third, he’s from Georgia, the newest swing state on the map, which happens to border South Carolina … which happens to now be the first primary on the 2028 calendar.

Not only does Ossoff understand the South, he started working for John Lewis when he was only 16 years old. He doesn’t have the support of the diverse democratic base because he pandered with all the right words from the outside, or made all the right promises; he’s earned their support because he’s been right in the middle of it with them for over 20 years of his political life.

Lastly, he’s going to have incredible momentum heading into 2028, because he’s running for reelection in the state Republicans think is their best chance to flip. And when Georgia Democrats get out and vote for him like I know they will, he’s going to win by an 8-point margin or better, serving Republicans the most expensive embarrassment they’ve suffered since they last elected Donald Trump to the presidency.

He keeps this up, the only real questions become: who is his running mate, and how big is the margin?
