Following on from a very special weekend launching Bush Modern in its natural habitat — by the Birrarung in Warrandyte — we’re pleased to announce our first author event in the city, hosted by Uro Bookshop at Stefanino Panino e Vino in Collingwood. We’ll be joined by architects Adriana Hanna and Brad Mitchell (of Nüüd Studio), both of whom have thoughtfully reworked homes featured in the book. Together, we’ll explore what it means to sensitively update these idiosyncratic houses: how to bring light, flow and contemporary comfort to spaces with strong original character, while honouring the ethos that shaped them.
Adriana, formerly of Kennedy Nolan, led the considered renovation of our own 1969 Alistair Knox house in Warrandyte. Brad, co-founder of Nüüd Studio, has reimagined his family’s 1975 Sibbel Builders home in Montmorency with warmth and restraint.
The discussion will touch on how the ideals of the Bush Modern era — creativity, resourcefulness and a respect for place — can continue to guide how we live and build today. Tickets are limited, so it’s worth jumping in early.
