How’s the week going?
I’ve been in Fire Island where I filed a spritz story for The Wall Street Journal, shot summer recipe videos that I can’t wait to share, and had friends visiting from San Francisco. The plumber has been on speed dial with a toilet tank not filling and a leaking pipe in Brooklyn. It’s been busy. I’ve been living in my Cognac Oiled Leather Gold Buckle Birkenstocks, Biliblond Black Sparkling Swimsuit that sucks you in, in all the right places, and a vintage men’s tuxedo shirt as a cover up. Three friends asked about the tuxedo shirt so I rounded up some for you. They look casual yet chic. Shop them here.
This week I’m excited to be running a cookbook giveaway.
Do you know how something suddenly enters your orbit, then you start hearing about it everywhere? For me, it’s the newly released cookbook, A Kitchen on Goose Cove by Devin Finigan and Peter Kaminsky.
I first heard about Finigan’s Maine restaurant, Aragosta, about six months ago. Since then, several friends have told me they recently ate there, and every one raved.
This isn’t one of those restaurant cookbooks that you’ll never cook from. Although it’s written by a talented chef, it celebrates classic Maine home cooking. The recipes feel approachable, with modern elegant twists, that make familiar dishes feel fresh.
Lobster roll with miso browned butter aioli? I mean...come on. How good does that sound? I’m jealous I didn’t think of that. I’m also dying to make the Sweet Corn Vegetarian Chowder, and Scallops with Ramp Sauce.
Sadly, I'm not making it to Maine this summer, but I can bring a little to Fire Island by grabbing some split-top potato buns, making these lobster rolls, chilling a six-pack of beer, and pretending I'm overlooking the Atlantic from a rocky shoreline, watching seaweed dance in freezing water.

Note: If you’ve never cooked lobster at home, buying lobster meat by the pound makes it a whole lot simpler. A mix of knuckle and claw lobster meat makes the juiciest and most tender mix. You can order it direct from Stonington’s own Greenhead Lobster; it’s as economical as cooking whole lobsters.
