💚Exploring Anahata using the Hridaya Mudra.
Compassion • Connection • Healing
A Moment for the Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is the bridge between the physical and “subtle” or nonphysical realms. It holds compassion, connection, and emotional healing. When this center is open, the chest feels spacious and the breath moves freely. Heart‑centered mudras support gentle expansion, helping you soften into presence and kindness. As we practice using the Hridaya Mudra. We become open to our intuition and invite connection.
💚 Today we’re exploring the Hridaya Mudra.
This gesture opens the heart and invites a sense of gentle blossoming. Settle in here.
Hridaya Mudra
💚 Hridaya Mudra. For Heart Chakra (Anahata)
How to Form the Mudra:
The little finger extended.
bend the ring and wedding fingers
thumb touching the wedding ring finger.
The hands rest gently on your knees, palms facing upward.
💚 Transformative Experiences Happen
💚 💚 💚 Some practitioners place one or both hands over the heart center, especially during emotional healing or grief-release meditations. This is less traditional but still meaningful, especially in heart-opening practices.
Anahata, the Heart chakra is considered a transformational chakra, and many people have intuitive and/or physical experiences when they focus their attention on it during meditation. Some experience a general and undefined feeling of deep connection or compassion. Others feel a more intuitive knowing or clarity that’s indescribable. They often feel an alignment with their true nature, even hearing a kind of voice guiding them.
Some of the physical experiences might be feeling a warmth radiating from the chest, or a soft pulsing outward from the sternum. Your shoulders might relax and drop, causing the area around your collarbones to feel expanded and open. Many also feel tingling in their hands and arms.
Whether you feel some, all, or none of these during mediation, the Heart Chakra meditation paves the way for an open feeling in your heart, a feeling of connectedness to your true nature and an increase in intuitiveness. It can happen quickly or it may take time, but it will happen.
💚 Reflection Prompt
This can be used as a moment of personal reflection or a journaling prompt.
Take a moment to notice what helps you unclench the muscles in your chest? Is there something that opens your chest a little? Whatever calls that feeling, consider pursuing it.
💚 Portable Practice (1–3 minutes)
A tiny, take‑anywhere, this micro practice can be used anywhere and anytime.
Find a comfortable position such as the Lotus Pose, or sit in a chair with your back straight and feet flat on the floor. Slowly close your eyes.
Begin by placing your right hand over your heart palm facing your body leaving a small gap.
Form the mudra by extending the little finger, bending the ring finger and middle finger, then touching them both with the tip of your thumb.
Slowly breathe in and imagine your heart is filled with peace and loving compassion.
Hold the mudra position for about 10-15 minutes or as long as you feel comfortable.
Then place your left hand on your heart with the right over it
Breathe in slowly through your nose. Pause and breathe out slowly.
This can be anytime you feel closed off or overwhelmed. Allow the space in your chest to open.
You may also say the YAM or I AM to yourself.
When you feel relaxed and centered go on with your day, feeling connected and at peace.
💚 Thirty‑Minute Meditation
Arrival
For a deeper experience add ambient music. 639 hz matches the vibration of the heart chakra, providing a more sentient experience.
Find a comfortable position, legs crossed, feet flat on the floor, or lying down on your back. Get all the little wiggles out, breathe in deeply, then breathe out slowly, settling into the moment.
Forming the Mudra
Breathe in once more, little finger extended, the ring and middle fingers curled together, thumb touching them, resting over your heart.
Breathwork Layer
Breathe slowly down to your midsection, feel your belly rise and soften, in four beats. Hold for a moment, exhale slowly through the mouth for six beats feel the center of your body soften and release. Breathe in once more, all the way down to your midsection, in four beats. Feel your belly rise, hold, then exhale slowly through the mouth. Last time, inhale deeply, belly rising, hold, and exhale slowly. Your body may feel warm and energized. You’re focused and aware.
Chakra Visualization
Spend a moment visualizing a vibrant green light in the middle of your chest. Feel the warm and compassionate light fill your heart. Hum the tone YAM, or I AM for fifteen minutes. Then sit quietly looking into the darkness for fifteen minutes, or as long as you can.
Closing
When your meditation is complete, either you feel “done” or the time allotted has arrived. Slowly release the mudra, rest hands, return to your breath, and slowly open your eyes. If you wish to come out slowly, cover your eyes with your palms, opening the space between your fingers as the eyes open. You feel refreshed, open, and happy.
Namaste
You are ready to move through your day with an open heart.
