What a night. Yesterday’s SZN 2 event was everything we hoped the new era would kick-off with: a full house, a genuinely brilliant panel, and the kind of conversation that carried on long after the mics went off.
To everyone who came: thank you! You’re the reason this community is what it is. And for those who couldn’t make it, we’ve got you.
We also wanted to give a huge thanks to our brilliant panel: Parivrudh Sharma (Tandem Health and NXGN Junior Committee member), Benedikt von Thüngen (Sanome), Yasmin Greenaway (Novara AI), Dr Johnny Andrews (stealth) and Ellis Ward (SciPro) for moderating.
And to our partners who made it happen: Tandem Health, our headline partner; SciPro, our event partner; and Living Things, who kept everyone refreshed. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Our panel made one thing obvious: the technology is no longer theoretical, it’s already operating in hospitals and clinics. The harder questions are now about trust, adoption and safety. Here are the key takeaways:
Clinical decision support drives value. The strongest products don’t just generate information; they help clinicians decide what to do next, with more confidence.
Adoption beats model performance. The market has plenty of pilots but only a few scaled tools. Products frequently fail when they don’t fit the workflow.
Ambient AI reduces cognitive load, not just time. Its deeper value is freeing clinicians to focus on patients, while creating structured data that can power future decision support and analytics.
Integration is an essential part of strategy. Onboarding, workflow design, stakeholder buy-in and local adaptation decide success more than the model does.
Regulation is part of the landscape. Rather than a barrier, regulation functions as a trust-enabling mechanism. Safety and trust are part of the product.
Bias is a systems-level problem. Skin tone, age, income, geography and continuity of care should be considered. AI models should be trained on diverse datasets to support equity.
Collaboration matters more than competition. Safety, fairness and interoperability are too important to solve in silos.
Clinical benchmarks still aren’t good enough. Clinical labels are often proxies, and popular datasets may be unrepresentative. High benchmark scores do not guarantee clinical value or safe deployment.
Post-market surveillance may be the defining capability. AI performance can change and models may drift. Continuous monitoring and safety should be treated as a core capability.
The need is now. Strained systems can’t wait for perfect conditions. The goal is responsible acceleration.
In summary, healthcare AI won’t be won by the flashiest demo, but by teams that combine clinical value, workflow fit, trust and real-world evidence.
Our SZN 2 launch event was just the beginning. As announced on the night, we’re teaming up with Tandem Health this September to host our first-ever hackathon.
The challenge? Reimagining clinical admin, one of the biggest time drains in healthcare. Working in small teams, you’ll build solutions to reduce the administrative burden clinicians face every day, with mentorship and support from the Tandem team throughout the event.
And there’s more. The strongest individuals and teams will be fast-tracked to interview for a role at Tandem!
Whether you’re a clinician, healthcare-focused engineer, operator, designer, or simply passionate about the future of healthcare, this is your opportunity to tackle a real problem, work alongside one of Europe’s fastest-growing healthtech companies, and potentially kick-start your next career move.

Psyomics secures an Innovate UK loan to expand regulated mental health tech across the NHS, taking its ‘beseen’ platform toward becoming a regulated medical device. The company estimates it’ll free up 85,000 hours of healthcare professionals’ time and return 13.2x for the NHS in year one. The technology already reaches 8m+ adults.
TidalSense raises £14.2m for its AI breath test, funding a push into Europe and the US for N-Tidal Diagnose: a handheld AI diagnostic device for COPD that swaps an hour of spirometry testing for 75 seconds of normal breathing. Already deployed across NHS primary care in England, Wales and Scotland.
The King's Fund calls for a national strategy on ambient voice technology, arguing the NHS needs a coordinated plan to scale AI clinical documentation as adoption accelerates, and noting interest spreading beyond doctors to nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and social care staff.
