I’ve rewritten this post more times than I care to admit. At this point, I think my delete key deserves a holiday. It’s wild how attached we become to sentences that no longer serve us. Or ideas that linger in our minds and totally change the course of the intended purpose of the message. You stare at them, knowing they must go, but you tell yourself, “Maybe I can fix it.” You can’t. Im focusing on bringing clarity by pressing delete.
So here’s to writing shorter pieces. Crisper, lighter and more like an espresso shot.
Life lately feels like that too. Ever since I decided to take the road without a map, my mind has been on some sort of creative caffeine rush. It’s what people probably mean when they say they feel “in flow.” For me, it started when I stopped calling this a career change and began calling it what it is: a vocation. I have not felt this excited and passionate about my 8 to 5 (now more like 10 to 12, then 3 to 7 and 9-11), than the first 3 months of my first job out of college.
It’s strange, uncertain, and oddly peaceful. You know you’re on your path when you can’t see the next step but keep walking anyway. Because that means it’s your path, not someone else’s.
So yes, I’ll keep it short. The excitement is too alive to overthink.
Reminder to self: Breathe. Enjoy the ride. Trust it and stay curious.
