If I had to sum up this month in one saying it would be tired but wired. To put it lightly, this month was pure and utter chaos. From working two remote jobs, taking summer courses, running my YouTube and Substack, seeing friends and ALSO planning the biggest summer trip I’ve taken in over a decade…I really didn’t have much time to relax this month. And yet, between all the stress and assignments and work and planning, I did still manage to consume some truly amazing books, music, films and TV. So without further ado…

We can all agree this is Olivia’s best album right?? It’s not recency bias…this is IT. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is, was and always will be That Girl. I was obsessed the moment my eardrums were blessed with Drop Dead and it’s been a total love affair ever since. My favourites change every day, but right now: Stupid Song, The Cure, Expectations, What’s Wrong With Me (live version) and Purple.

I love this new era from Gracie which sounds very familiar and somehow also completely fresh and new. Daughter From Hell comes out July 17, 2026 and I need it yesterday.
Abilene - Kacey Musgraves
I loved Deeper Well when it came out in 2024. This new album felt like somewhat of a return to that feeling…but BETTER. While I’ve been listening to all the songs on repeat, there is something special about Abilene.
Questions - Maisie Peters
I chose to only spotlight one album (yspsfagsil was always going to take it), but I was also a BIG Florescence girl this May-June. I love Vampire Time, Say My Name and Girl’s Just Flying…but Questions is my current fave!
I Knew it I Knew You - Taylor Swift
Do I really need to say anything about this song? It’s Taylor. It’s perfection. Chefs Kiss!

A Good Girls Guide to Murder - Season 2 (2026)
I was a fan of the GGG book series when I read it a few years ago, and also a BIG fan of the Netflix adaptation when it’s first season aired. I was also somewhat skeptical going into season two mainly because the second book is my least favourite in the trilogy. And yet…this season managed to be even better than the first and a complete delight from start to finish. I highly recommend for fans of the books, those who just know the show, or people who haven’t read or seen either!
Dawson’s Creek (1998)
To quote my recent Ten Shows to Get you in the Mood for Summer, what honours this season better than messy, emotionally damaged teens by a body of water?? This show provides me with many questions: namely, why don’t I live in a picturesque cottage by a creek? Where are all the real life Pacey’s? And how is this theme song SO catchy? As a self proclaimed 90s’/2000s teen drama connoisseur, I can confidently say this is one of the good ones. Check out my recent pjo edit here!

Greener Grass (2019)
I have to admit my Letterboxd was a bit sad looking this month… I really wish I had the time to watch more films. STILL, I watched this one movie night totally out of the blue and it happened to be such a fun, silly and thought-provoking watch. I missed Greener Grass when it came out in 2019, but now I’ve seen it and thankfully the universe has been righted. This is the kind of film you have to watch to understand, and even then you may not. This film is smart, it’s funny and it’s timely. I really can’t sum it up better than: suburban soccer moms, stylized satire, amazing costumes, performances and perfect comedic timing…a total gem!
Toy Story 5 (2026)
Is this movie as good as the song Tay wrote for it? No. But is it a better movie because of the song? Yes. To be honest I wasn’t really expecting to be that obsessed with Toy Story 5. I usually don’t gravitate towards animated films in general…but I really enjoyed this and felt that it was a really sweet story overall with a VERY important message. As a life long babysitter with years of expertise in this area, the ipad generation needs an INTERVENTION. Fun fact, the two boys sitting near my friend and I in the theatre were on their phones the whole time…proving the film’s exact point.

Spectacular Things - Beck Dorey Stein
To say this was my favourite read of the month (and possibly one of the best books I’ve read this year) is an understatement. Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate…despise…LOATH (!) sports of any kind. And yet, this novel, all about soccer was sooooooo good. Spectacular Things follows two sisters — Mia and Cricket — the daughters of a young single mother who was once well-known soccer prodigy forced to give up her dreams. As the girls grow up, they must grapple with the legacy of their mother’s past, all while navigating their own uncertain futures. Trust me on this one, you won’t regret it. Read my full review here.
Famesick - Lena Dunham
This was a hard book to read, to review and to sit with for the days after finishing it. From my monthly book round-up: As far as celebrity memoirs go, there’s a reason this one has cultivated so much hype. This story is for the sick girls, the girls who dream, the lost girls, the girls who feel like “too much,” girls who don’t feel like they’re enough. Despite how heavy it is at times, this was a valuable and thought-provoking reading experience I will continue to think about for a long time. Read my full review here.

I may have bit-off more than I could chew this month…the result? I didn’t get to post as much on here as I wanted. Right now, I have about 15 open Substack tabs with half-finished posts, think pieces, rankings and lists just waiting to see the light of day. I’m hoping I’ll be able to post more in July, but some stuff just might take a bit longer. I did at least get to share something on here in June, so please check these two out if you haven’t!

YouTube ended up being the one platform I didn’t wholly neglect (thank you Olivia for fuelling my crazy late night hyperfixations). I was able to post edits of two cherished OTPs, Dair and Pjo…aka two peas in an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers pod. If you haven’t watched them yet, enjoy!
Summer is always a crazy busy time so I’m at least glad I was able to share some truly amazing gems with all of you. I’ll be traveling for a bit and can’t wait to share so many updates soon! Please tell me all your June faves in the comments. See you all next month xx
