Braunton Academy students celebrate on GCSE results day

Braunton Academy says it is celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results including 290 grades at 7 and above

Braunton Academy has celebrated an “excellent set of GCSE results” and says there has been strong achievement across a wide range of subjects.

This year, students achieved 47 of the highest at grade 9, 94 grade 8s and 149 grade 7s, with 290 grades awarded at grade 7 and above.

The school said it was extremely proud of students' success in vocational qualifications, with 14 students achieving the highest grades possible at Level 2 Distinction and above.

Fay Bowler, principal of Braunton Academy, said: “These fantastic GCSE results are the culmination of years of hard work, determination and resilience.

“Our young people have shown tremendous commitment to their studies, overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities and they thoroughly deserve this success.

“It is a privilege to work in a school where such outstanding achievements are made possible by the talent, ambition and character of our students. While we celebrate the excellent grades they have earned today, we are equally proud of the young people they have become.

“Throughout their time with us they have developed qualities such as kindness, resilience, integrity and a determination to succeed, which will serve them well in whatever path they choose next.”

Ms Bowler also paid tribute to the dedication of staff and the support provided by families and carers.

Individual achievements highlighted included Poppy Abbiss-Biro, Helena Gradalska and Suki Squires, who all achieved a maximum grade 9 in five subjects.

Dylan Canning-Mathews and Ryley Cole both achieved four grade 9s, while Isaac Dutton and Mia Hopkins achieved three grade 9s.

Among this year’s successes was Year 9 student Judah Britton, who demonstrated exceptional aptitude by completing GCSE computer science two years early and secured a Grade 9, the top grade attainable.
