As we address many different topics, including faith-based topics, if you disagree with an assertion or are uninterested, simply ignore the article or video like you would have strolled past an uninteresting store when cruising the mall in the 90s!

Cottonique had a good Fourth of July sale this year, so I bought a few things. I just trashed two of the Jersey hoodie pullovers as they were falling apart (literally), and as I was looking at Dave’s work clothing, he’s going to be needing more sweatshirts come fall.
Sweatshirts are a tough one when you’re trying to avoid latex.
The Jersey hoodie pullovers might be a little thicker than typical Cottonique clothing, but that’s about it. They aren’t warm.
Cottonique relatively recently released their French terry hoodie, which I’ve had my eye on, so I ordered one to try.
We like it!
It’s about medium thickness for a sweatshirt, so Dave will probably need to wear two or three as he does with the old sweatshirts he’s been wearing. (Those aren’t made anymore, but they were cheap, dang it!)
These are so, so expensive, but safe clothing is a must here. I would love to be able to go to thrift stores again and pick up clothing, but it’s simply not an option anymore.
So I will probably be waiting until Cottonique has another good sale, then buying a handful of very expensive French terry sweatshirts. Because the hubby has to be warm, and he wears layers. It’s what he does.
These days I buy everything in the undyed, natural color as I just don’t tolerate the black fabric from Cottonique. I’m fine being around it, but can’t deal with wearing it.
Another note on packaging, lest I forget: that has changed. If you have a corn allergy, beware. Also, the packaging reeks to high heaven. The package I received came from Pennsylvania and it made me sick. Then, washing the clothes made me sick as the fabric itself was contaminated with fragrance. It was definitely from the warehouse.
I have not alerted Cottonique- though they do welcome feedback- as this gal is beat up from this toxic world, yo.
Anyways, be aware that if you’re chemically sensitive, anything from at least that warehouse I would expect to reek. I don’t know about elsewhere.
But, it’s still almost all I wear these days clothing-wise. Next time I’ll try hanging the clothes outside first to air out before washing them. That’s what I did earlier this year with a shower curtain, and that worked wonderfully.

After getting stupid sick last week, I’m improving. But I still have to wear my respirator when I go outside or face dire consequences!
Wildfire smoke has continued around here this week, so I’m responding accordingly. I’ve started running the dryer without slightly gapping the window.
*gasp!*
I know, it’s not best practice, but I like to breathe and not get sick from the outside air.
I’ve had my EL Foust air purifier running on high most of the time, and just got a shipment of more air filters in from them, as I’ll be running through those faster than usual! (Austin Air is the only other option I would recommend. Avoid the cheap ones as they are junk! You’re better off building your own from box fans if you can’t afford the more expensive air purifiers.)
Besides those things, I’m obviously staying inside more often, as wearing my respirator actually caused asthma for me years ago. Irony!
And, I’m scrubbing my garden produce more than usual, not that I’m getting a ton of beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes right now. But I’m thrilled with what I’m getting, as it’s 100% on autopilot with my limited time outside.
It’s nice to see all of the carpenter bees buzzing around, pollinating things for me. Nature still fights on.
Dave went and bought new tires for the truck this week, which wiped me the hizzy out. Oy. I forgot how much I hated tire stores. The misery induced from the third-hand latex and fragrance!
But as usual, I get his stuff washed, spray vinegar behind him after he comes in, and he goes straight to the bathroom and scrubs himself. After some natural epinephrine alternative treatment, I’m usually alright. Now, of course, his truck stinks though, which means he stinks every time he comes in from his truck.
Ah, canary life! Living it UP in this toxic world!
