Hello Beautiful, and thank you for supporting my Substack as a paid subscriber!
I hope you feel inspired in your own creative process with your writing as I share an inside peek into my own journey developing my quirky memoir, The Queer Poly Kinky Anxiously Attached Neurodivergent’s Guide to Surviving a Long Distance Online Relationship.
Please note: this post is not representative of what is to come! What I’m sharing today is the result of a lot of thinking, exploring and tidying.
My process is usually quite messy (as it should be!).
OK, a little bit of context about what I’m sharing with you today. Last year I worked with Chelene Knight for a mentorship to help me develop my book project.
Today I want to share an exercise that I found quite powerful. I think it can be valuable for writers before they begin a long-form project, in the midst of it, or could be used on a smaller scale to see the way through a short CNF piece.
Chelene invited me to read this interview with Amber Dawn and then interview myself about my book.
Here’s what that looked like. It’s a bit of a long read, be warned! But it was really useful to gather my thoughts in this way—in discussion with myself as though I was talking to another person about what I was up to.
It also helped me express things I don’t normally feel comfortable doing, explicitly sharing where I stand, my values, how I relate to intimacy in my life.
I believe every attempt to unmask can only help our writing. So I offer you this interview with myself…
