Dear friend,

Using the newest “A.I.-powered” tools offered by big companies like Microsoft, OpenAI, and Alphabet, you cannot help but notice how aggressively they try to police our words.

Take the latest Microsoft Word update. Now, it no longer just corrects your spelling; it also actively scans your document for politically incorrect terms. It will suggest changes to make your writing “more inclusive.”

For instance, if you write “chairman” or “mankind,” it starts suggesting you change it to “chairperson” and “humankind” respectively.

  • Microsoft Word now recommends replacing politically incorrect language with approved alternatives.

  • AI writing tools increasingly act as ideological gatekeepers rather than neutral assistants.

  • Journalists under pressure may accept sanitised AI rewrites without properly questioning them.

  • Western universities flourished because scholars once enjoyed freedom from political control.

  • A culture that punishes unapproved thought will ultimately lose its creativity, innovation and freedom.

Microsoft’s attempt is just the tip of the word-policing iceberg. OpenAI’s ChatGPT will outright disobey our instructions and offer a “corrected” version when we input an article or document for checking.

Considering how ubiquitous it has become as a daily tool for many writers, one must reflect on how dangerous its “fact correction” is. Anyone who has used it extensively will find it doesn’t itself care about facts – it outright hallucinates false facts. Its corrections are instead attempts to align people’s words more closely with the official narrative put forward by the elites.

The danger is that most journalists and writers, pushed by tight deadlines and heavy workloads, will ultimately accept the “corrected version,” and that is the version, the ideologically aligned one, that most people will end up reading.

But let’s get deeper down the iceberg because there exists an even greater threat to free thought and perhaps civilization itself.

If you have read a lot of history, one question worth contemplating is why Islamic madrasas or Chinese imperial academies didn’t become centers of a scientific revolution as Western universities did.

It turns out that the key difference wasn’t that professors or students at Western universities were brighter or had access to more resources than their Eastern peers. Instead, Western universities had much more autonomy. Politics and ideology did not constrain the pupils, unlike in other parts of the world, and as a result, innovation and the free flow of ideas were never hindered.

This is no longer true. From being autonomous from politics and elite narratives to becoming the very centres of their propagation, Western universities, art schools, and publishing houses all gatekeep what can and cannot be preached, studied, and published.

These very places have become suffocating to the free mind. Professors carefully choose their words and what they teach lest they get fired for a thoughtcrime. The performative “woke” grifters find the most fertile ground in this stifling environment, siphoning funds and resources for their ideological projects away from actual research that would benefit humanity.

It is no wonder that, on a relative scale, the West is now declining in innovation. Students from “elite” universities once graduated with the skills, knowledge, and drive needed to make their own mark in history. Today’s graduates from these very universities can’t even secure employment because employers realise they haven't been taught or trained for real-life challenges and lack much critical thought.

The modern world would not allow George Orwell to write 1984. It would correct his language, police his thoughts, and even cancel him for the audacity to even write something non-mainstream.

Until next time, God bless you, your family and nation.

Take care,
