ingredients

  • 40-ish saltine crackers, enough to cover a standard sheet pan

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

  • 1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • halloween sprinkles

  • candy corn

  • gummy worms

  • halloween Oreos, roughly broken

  • flaky sea salt, optional

directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper, then arrange the saltines in a single layer, edge to edge.

  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.

  3. Immediately pour the hot caramel evenly over the saltines. Use a spatula to spread it all the way to the edges.

  4. Bake for 5 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling all over.

  5. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the milk and dark chocolate chips evenly over the top. Let sit for 2 to 3 minutes until melted, then spread the chocolate into an even layer.

  6. While the chocolate is still warm, decorate with Halloween sprinkles, candy corn, gummy worms, and broken Halloween Oreos. Optionally, finish with a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt.

  7. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours, or until completely firm.

  8. Break into irregular pieces and enjoy! 🎃👻
