This Apple Upgrade program is fascinating. There is more psychology going on in this discussion than most others.
Ownership is generally defined as the point in time in which the benefits of the product flow through to the user. Lease/rent/loan/finance are not ownership terms. Rights and obligations are ownership terms.
In my world, there is no difference between a lease and a finance option (all things being equal; bargain purchase option, 75% of economic useful life, and 90% of PV of payments).
