“Better to write for yourself and have no public than to write for the public and have no self.”

— Cyril Connolly

Guide: Play No. 4 on the playlist track for better reading experience.

Progress beats perfection. How many times have you stopped writing halfway because you thought your words were not good enough? How many ideas have you kept locked inside because you feared they were not perfect enough to share? Perfection is an illusion that stops many writers before they even begin. The truth is that no one writes flawlessly from the start. Every writer produces rough drafts and makes mistakes. But every word you write even the ones you later change or remove moves you forward. It teaches you how to think more clearly how to express yourself more precisely and how to trust your own judgment. Growth happens in small steps not in one great perfect moment. As they say “Small wins cause great impacts”. Therefore, continue writing and take small steps every day.

Today’s Exercise

Take one piece of writing you have hidden away or stopped working on because you felt it was not good enough. Read it through and mark three parts that you actually like or that express your thought clearly. Then write one small improvement you can make to it without trying to rewrite everything.

Today’s Perception

You will feel free from the pressure of being flawless. Confidence will grow as you recognize that effort and improvement are far more valuable than an impossible standard. You will feel more willing to keep writing and experimenting.

Feel free to share your thoughts below and let us know how this resonates with you.
