At this moment, you have that sudden realization. This is not a time when something huge is happening in your life. It can occur when you lie in bed at night staring up at the ceiling and pondering why your life is going anywhere. Perhaps you are at college surviving from deadlines while everyone around appears to know what they’re doing. After all you could be watching your friends get to the things you have always wanted so bad and being happy for them.
Some part of you is crying, when will it be my turn?
After that semester you convince yourself that it will be better, after you graduate it will be better, once you have money, once someone acknowledges what you’ve done. You wait for the opportunity the motivation or the right person who will transform everything for you.
We all hint out in the real, most of us are waiting for someone to save them but — that is not going to happen. So much of our lives have been spent believing that there would be someone who came into our lives and made it easier. A teacher might see your talent. Maybe your parents could understand you after all. Perhaps someone not only believes you but has become convinced of that before yourself. Perhaps one million-dollar “lucky” break could erase years of discontent and uncertainty.
We love these thoughts because they set us free.
They keep us waiting and they lead us to believe our future is only postponed not disregarded. Life does not work that way. One day you wake up. Understand that since your world had been running, whether you were ready for it or not. Neither would anyone wait for you to go about chasing your dreams. Newsflash: Time does not stop while you keep trying to feel like you know what you’re doing. After all, opportunities do not always knock twice.
You are hoping one day you will suddenly become life, but in the meantime, life just continues in motion. That is when you begin to grasp the most important thing you will ever read:
No one is coming to save you!
These words sound mean. It sounds like you are all alone! And what they actually mean by that is not. What they mean is that you always controlled your destiny without knowing it till now.
No one built your tests,
No one builds your self-control,
No one heals your pain and
No one creates the life you have.
People can motivate you support you Adore you with all their hearts. They will never be able to live your life for you. Perhaps you have said to yourself I will do it from tomorrow? You will compose that story tomorrow. Tomorrow is when you get that scholarship. You will start working out tomorrow.
Tomorrow you will NO LONGER compare yourself to others.
Tomorrow you will finally believe that you are enough. How many tomorrows, if you are honest with yourself have already passed? How many opportunities were passed by while you kept putting them off until you felt ready? The most challenging thing to realise is that, you are never going to feel confident until you start doing something. You gain courage after you take the leap not before.
I know it is tiring. I know how it feels to not feel lost amongst those who seem like they have a course charted. I understand the feeling of questioning whether you are smart enough, talented enough or deserving of the hopes and dreams that you have held onto for several years. But one thing you will learn is this: nearly everyone you look up to has felt the same way at some point.
Maybe you are reading this because you have been waiting, too.
A motivation waiting to happen.
Waiting for someone to believe in you.
Waiting for life to be fair at last.
If that’s you, I hope you hear this with an open heart. Your life is not on hold waiting for someone else to fix it. It's there for you. Not the best version of you. Not the self-confident one. Not the one that has it all figured out. Just you, as you are right now, with all your fears and doubts and mistakes and dreams not yet complete. That’s a good beginning.
