Gabrielle Judge · Ms. Anti Work

I’m about halfway through my book, You Are Not Your Job. (S/o to my team: Alex, Rebecca, and Kimberly for making this happen!)

We are done writing in June! So, it’s definitely crunch time.

Here are some random thoughts I’ve had, while writing this book:

  • We should all be writing more. It’s helped me think and speak more clearly, improved my video content, and reduced brain rot.

  • And specifically: writing ON PAPER first. Digital tools are overstimulating for early brainstorming. I carry a sketchbook (this one specifically) and a Sharpie S gel pen (they glide so nicely and have a good chunkiness to the ink width) and write thoughts, mind maps, and half-sentences constantly. Humans wrote this way for a long time for a reason.

  • Learning how to write at this level while at the same time monetize it has kicked my ass this past year. Still, I’m finally taking a moment to acknowledge the progress I’ve made and I hope you feel it too!

  • Reading is essential for good writing. My Goodreads told me I read 37 books last year and started reading obsessively again to study other authors. It’s not about copying, but about surrounding myself with good literature so I can create better literature.

  • I’m genuinely ready to sell this thang!! I won’t start until later this year and into next year, but I feel confident and excited about it.

I’ll leave it at that

I don’t want to share the contents of the book AT ALL. It’s a surprise. You’re going to love it. Just trust.
